Wednesfield manager Steve Morgan wasted no time in getting some new faces into the Kingo Arena as he announced the signings of England stalwarts Chris Adams and Martin Shaw on loan from Wolston and Kings Lynn respectively.
Morgan added in the press conference, "We are pleased to announce 2 speedway legends to the Kingo in Chris and Martin. They bring a wealth of experience and some might say it's a gamble bringing in riders that are into their 30's and the fact both dropped half a point each last season, but I, and they, feel that the challenge, the offer on the table and the prospect of potential glory were too good to turn down........"
both riders were away on England duty at the WTC with Morgan who is also their manager at International level. Morgan added, "I didn't tap them up! Honest!! Look, these boys are good honest pros. They will give 100% for me and the club and both are looking at improving their averages this season. Boris will learn heaps from them, and so will Dylan..."
As for one of the new boys being skipper this season, Morgan was quick to add, "that is staying with Phil Hayes. Yes the new lads bring in great experience, but Phil has rode at this level before and deserves to be skipper another year!"
When asked who else would be joining the ranks, Morgan added, " We haven't got a lot of points to play with. I was fancying someone around 7 and a reserve at 3.60 but we might go 2 at 5.30........we shall see!!"
Wednesfield Press and Practice Day will be the night before the first pre season friendly.
Entrance will be free with donations of a quid to the Riders Benevolant Fund.
