Passing by Cleator Moor on the A5086, we saw the amazing sculptures by Conrad Atkinson and new that we had just found a new place to build an Academy League Stadium.
From the Logheads, both Wilemsen and Last were approached and agreed to lead the franchise.
Experience to lead the team and take the captaincy, that bought Clarke from Thornaby, who's hoping to get a home track he likes this season.
Next up were two lads that are part time sheep shearers known in the local area, Burke and Jones formerly at Abertillery..
Cash was splashed to bring Rowley's Zane north and we're hoping he'll make the difference between a good and bad season.
Finally, the obligatory JJ rider, for us there was only one choice, the current Noerthern Champion and podium finsiher overall, Monk from UL side, Lanarkshire
I give you the Phoenix of Cleator Moor

The first ever heat winner at the Phoenix is Steve Clarke. The first fixture saw a home win that sent the locals home with a warm and fuzzy feeling. No maximum scorers, yet.
**STARMAN** Abraham Willemsen (Cleator Moor Phoenix)

We may have not won on the night, but Cleator Moor almost put paid to the Dragons on their own shale. A win on aggregate for the first ever fixture will always be deemed a success by the new promotion.

A victory marred by injury to Aiden Burke. Willemsen scored maximums with Zane and Last, but it was the maximum from Clarke and Monk in Heat 13 that saw the meeting won.
We had the thrill of meeting John Hellsen and David Osbourne again. New line up looked promising, but will experiment again in the next fixtures.
**STARMAN** - Dexter Last ( Cleator Moor Phoenix)

Aggregate victory for the Phoenix after a thrilling end to the meeting in Durham.
**STARMAN** - Stevie Crammond (Durham Speed Stars) and he had plenty of opportunity to prove it after injury to Hill.
Monk had a very impressive meeting for Cleator Moor and may have done enough to make the #5 jacket his own.

A new set of partnerships and a very exciting meeting. No one side could claim mastery as the Renegades kept the scoring close. The home side only nudging ahead in the last three heats. **STARMAN** - Abraham Willemsen (Cleator Moor Phoenix) - looking happier in the #5 jacket.

Jones apart, Phoenix looked a settled side and proved strong to the finish, mostly thanks to a Willemsen and Clarke 5-1 in Heat 13. Otherwise it had proven an enjoyable test for both sides as had the home leg.
**STARMAN** - Dexter Last (Cleator Moor Phoenix) - very happy with the step down from Sheffield.

Ove Hydling has been dropped from PL side Workinton. Averages permitted, he may be riding for his parent club come the new averages.
However, not content to wait for the new Green Sheets, Robert Mountford has agreed to join the Pheonix at the expense of Aiden Burke.
Aiden has since requested a move away from Cumbria and both parties remain on good terms.
