So there they line up the new septet for 2016. A few familiar faces and change or two to freshen things up. After mid table finish last time out Bullets' Manager Paul Duff would love to see his charges amongst the silver ware this campaign. "Our first season was one of progression, we finished a handy mid table, but, if I'm totally honest, i wu;d love to see us in finals and play-offs. It's where i want us to be, it will delight the fans I'm sure, however we also have to remain realistic, we havent a bottomless cash box, and need to keep a sense check. However i really think we have put a good young side together this time out. We dispensed, reluctantly with Zoltan and Mike, who were unlucky really. Zoltan never really hit the ground running and dropped below the standard I expected, he's a cracking lad and I wish him every success in the future. Mike was our skipper and it was a wrench, but I just thought the opportunities available in putting this young side together were too great to miss out on."
Mike Greer stays at Number 1 and I firmly believe he is a powerhouse and bona fide No.1. He was a lot of people's choice for ALRC last year but he baulked a little on the day. He takes over as Captain and I really see him leading from the front. He'll up his average I'm sure, he hovered around 9 all last term and he really can turn that into a 10.
I'm delighted to welcome back young Lewie Carr, at just 16 there's nowhere this kid can't go if he remains fit and hungry. He's a frightening talent at such a young age, moved out of reserve last time out and stepped up to the plate as a second string, he could get into a Heat Leader role yet.
At 3, maybe surprisingly for some, is Will Stone, after a torrid start last year Will dropped to reserve and really found form, he has started this season well and is growing in confidence. It's a real pleasure to see him back in the points and smiling he upped his average last season by nearly a point after a slow start and I'm more than happy to have him back again, and don't forget he's still only 18 years old!
Another familiar face lines up at 4, another year on loan with us, Ricky Ede. It's no secret that I would love to sign Ricky, but I can't prise him away from his parent club. Still to have him here again is fantastic for us and he loves it here too. Another 18 yr old prospect who added nearly 2 points to his average last year. I'd love to see him pushing towards Heat leader status.
A welcome return also for our Number 5 - Hamish Hamilton, he was seen by some as a bit of a risk last year, but he settled in superbly and was one of our star performers really. He's rewarded with the No.5 race jacket this year and has started solidly. The fans love him and he'll do well this time out i'm certain.
Our two new boys slot in a reserve. Craig Leonard at 6 is another 'boy' at just 16, he has huge potential and I think he's a steal at 4.40. He really can push into the main body, he has the heart of a lion this boy and there were a few after him i'll tell you.
At 7 is 17 year old Lancastrian Shane Rigg, he's a steady performer and sits in nicely with his average, with guidance and patience he can score well. He's not used to our track yet but he'll find his feet and then start to learn his craft and hopefulyl contribute well away soon too. He's under no pressure but i'd love him to have a good season and add to his starting average.
