The Whales led by skipper Thompson who maxed out and Van Maurik, put in a very strong start seeing Thornaby needing to use Olsen as a tac sub to get back in the meeting, later a heat 12 5-1 to the Thunder leveled the meeting scores, before 3 shared heats brought us a drawn meeting.
Fred Taylor and Wayne Templeton giving the thumbs up to their riders for effort. Newbies goycochea and Moosz settled in quietly with some important points. SIM SPEEDWAY 2016 - EVOLUTION LEAGUE

Wow! absolutely dumbfounded, a 12 point lead through heats 4-7 was slowly clawed back by an energised Jets, with Cervenka in outstanding form to win the last heat to claim a share of the points was beyond everyone attached to the Whales camp, the difference tonight was Valclav the Whales collectively were solid, but a little complacent after building up and maintaining that 12 point gap some were thinking what an easy nights work, how wrong were they, credit to Alan Baylee's charges for making it a wonderful speedway meeting.

A good start was important and what better way that a 5-1, we were always ahead of the game and settled for the comfort of a 12 point lead.
Plus points fro the Whales was the paid max from Van Maurik and the almost faultless effort from Mullarkey, Nobles came to life with an excellent contribution, as Thunder relied upon two ex Whales in Prusaczyk and De Villiers to head up the scoring charts.

Thornaby chose tonight to put together probably their best all round team performance, we struggled throughout and only Van Mauik and Mullarkey put in good shifts as we could have suffered the agony of a 60+ point score against us
Coach Templeton was left with huge problems as he witnessed number suffer another low scoring night after the previous evening's engine problems, Nobles had a mixed weekend. He has called the guys in for a couple days extensive work at the Flight Path, Wayne is not happy with the fitness and form of some riders, Fred Taylor agreed with Wayne after the long journey north some of the boys just didn't have it in them. Fred wished Thornaby good luck as they move forward to the semi-finals.

Our first visit to the Mark Evans gambling den, saw us battle hard to keep the scores close,
Viv Thompson was in good form and well supported by his team mates as Woodcroft and Moller-Bech did just enough to win it for the West Yorkshire team.
Moosz started stri=ongly but tired later, Nobles had an off day for him

The Whales put together a strong performance to take up to the first GSA changes, Talor and Templeton were impressed with Canagian flyer Moursin on his first visit to the Megano, Ray France has made a super start to the season and will be in the main body of their team moving forward, though the rest of the Chargers looked in need of a 'recharge'.
For the Whales Moosz looked inspired as Van Maurik and Thompson led from the front.with good support form the rest of the team.
Taylor was happy that at last the team were performing to a level they need to be at.

The Whales were under the cosh early on, the Falcons did a job on us restricting the Whales to just four heat winners on the night and just 3 heat advantages, the end result though was much loser than it felt.
Again Viv Thompson was the standout rider, whilst the aging Mullarkey supported well as Nobles,Smith and Goycochea gave their all, Van Maurik struggled in the West Country.
Olle Nyman elevated to no 1 looked as though he was made for this job, reserve Roux smashed it with a double figure return and Craven supported well, ensuring the Falcons a home victory

The Whales led by topscoring efforts from Thompson, Mullarkey and Goycochea (his seasons best) and supported by Nobles, Moosz, Smith and Van Maurik saw the team to a comfortable 8 point victory.

18/06/2016 at THE BOWL - ATTENDANCE 798 SIM SPEEDWAY 2016 - EVOLUTION LEAGUE
A great start by the Whales saw them lead by 10 points (10-20) after 5 heats, with Viv Thompson and Michael Smith celebrating two maximums as the home fans were very vociferous about promoter / manager James Calderbank, many believing the laid back style of management hasn't brought the club the sucess that the fans football clubs have locally, one guy said we deserve better the facilities are not the best, the club has money we dropped down a league and expected to go straight back up, OK we fought back to a win here, but what chance of the BP, he has to look at the bigger picture.
As for the Whales skipper Thompson has been a big player in everything that is good here, Van Maurik put in a spirited effort and the evergreen Mullarkey was supportive, Smith did well in the early heats taking a tumble late on and should be 100% for his next meeting, the reserves Nobles and Goycochea seem to share the good meeting this week it was Gustavo who stood out.
All in all a very satisfying result considering the Shaleblasters go top with this win, as Malenkov jr and Wyer were the main players for Stockport.

The Whales were embarrassed in this localish derby, new boss Terry Rigby and the Mafioso Pizza delivery ladies and security team put fear into the Essex boys.
The Whales were never in front and the were a couple of occassions we drew level, but the Wizards finished very strong to complete the victory with 2 x 1-5 heat wins.
With no top end scores it was a workmanlike effort from the Whales, whilst Chres Neillsen backed his boss with an alomst unbeaten score. Harmison, Lastuvka and Cedergren supporting well.
It looks like te winds have changed in Westwwood, the off track influences give Westwood the confidence to go out on track and win, or is it win or the heavies will sort you out, will we ever know, but whatever the script 'Big Tel' got the recipe right.

Is this as good as it gets, we never led at any stage of the meeting, Viv Thompson completely outraced in heat 13, only an excellent effort from Mullarkey and Van Maurik and a 4-2 heat win in 15, saw us draw on the night, Goycochea showed good form.
But it was ex Whale Pawel Prusaczyk who showed he still has a liking for the Megano with a race off victory to bring his new bosses two points on the road, De Villers returned to his old shale, stating I miss this place, but I doubt those words will get to the ears of our promotors, 3 points in 3 is an average effort.
Thornaby were good value and the crowd witnessed speedway as good as it gets.

The Whales won on the night but lost out on the BP, skipper Thompson struggled with engine gremlins as the evergreen Mullarkey and reserve Nobles led the scoring lists whilst Smith and Van Maurik were solid performers.
For the Angels Mikkelsen proved his class as Davey, Moller Bech and Woodcroft raced hard to take the BP back to Humberside.
We move on to an away meeting at promotion favorites Sheffield Don's and will be going all out to win points needed to stay in the EL.

Another exciting encounter between clubs owned by NSSPA members, Fred Taylor was proud of his charges as they took the meeting to a race off against the high flying Dons.
There were excellent efforts from Thompson, Van Maurik and Mullarkey, the highs and lows of Lee Nobles season just keep coming, as for Smith inconsistencies have not helped, whilst Goycochea and Moosz were not at the races.
Bartousek impressed for the Dons as Stevens looked in good form, Szymkowiak did his bit matching Hines and Evaristo on 7.
In the end it was Bartousek who held off a high riding Thompson in the race off and all three points go to Yorkshire.

A brilliant performance from evergreen Chris Mullarkey with (20+2) supported by skipper Viv Thompson (15) we matched the points scored by Dons Stevens and Hines, but winning the trophy was one race too far as Stevens powered to victory over Mullarkey.
Fred Taylor though was happy to win a trophy after another season of ineptitude, this close season will see plenty of work going on behind the scenes at the Megano, do we have a clear out and start again as our choices have not matched our intention.
