Ray Shines As Chargers Progress
Charlemont Chargers are into the Semi Finals of the EL KOC after a strong performance saw the Golden Lions come through 96-84 against the Stockport Shaleblazers. It was all systems go in the first leg which saw the Charger come away with just a two point deficent in the away leg after an impressive display through out the team. Its was Charlemonts number one Jaques Moursin doing the damage and scoring heavily all night and supporting his team mates when on a 3-3 to keep the score ticking over nicely. The main attraction of the scoring however was Ray France, he scored a brilliant 11 points in the away fixture from five rides and really boosted the teams tally but it didnt stop their as he then came back to the All Saints Stadium to inflict a storming victory over the two legs. The home leg saw 11+2 and became the stand out performer of the week.
The Chargers seem to have points throughout the team but there are some inconsistant scores throughout the pack. Noone has really set the league alight yet and when the GSA comes around there looks to be quite a few changes in the side. The real talking point though seems to be the inambition from the Manager Steven Hunt who seems to have taken his eye of the ball and come into some critisium from the ever growing Chargers fan base.
Manager Comments
'Into the semi finals we march and it is basicly down to the away fixture and for us keeping it within two really gave us the platform to spring on from. The side is healthy through the team but we just dont seem to be able to get each rider pushing on each week. We have Neil scoring heavy one week then getting an average 5 the next, we need the top three to be pushing double figures each week and then the reserves and second strings to be picking up the points that win matches and the bonus points for themselves.'
'I have felt the fans becoming a little restless with me and the side and I must put it on record that this team is main focus but other comitments to get in the way sometimes so it is hard to be vocal all the time. We have built a competative side here again this year but sucsess if not always a sure thing and at some point we are going to take a knock or two. I will regain my own focus and put 100% into this league and try and get alot out of it.'
'Were sitting 2nd in the league and through to the KOC semi finals but I understand fans want more from me in The Pride Media Outlet and I am looking at ways to reach more people. The club will be looking at the track in coming weeks to see where we can improve and in additition more car parking and seats are going to be created so this team can push onto bigger and better things.'
'Im really not looking forward to the GSA cause this team is going to shift about abit with Williams looking to go to number one and leap frogging Neil Johnson to top spot, could see a change in reserve as well with Marjan Zebec and Ewald Dirtl swapping places with France and Pullen. It just shows how far these two kids have come that they have moved into the main body of the team so quickly but thats the worry now is that do they kick on from there and also the two other lads reset their season and we will be all guns blazing.
