Having completed our first 6 league matches and looked at how all the riders have fared I didn't see any need to make changes at this point. We have made a fairly strong start to the league campaign with all riders playing their part. The biggest disappointment and surprise is the drop in form of Jamie Vaughan who I was hoping would be pushing hard for the number 1 race jacket. I have spoken to him and he assures me he has got to the cause of his problems and will be back to his best in the coming weeks.
On the flip side of that I am delighted with the way Tibor Nemecek has settled in and put almost a point on his average. If he carries on at that rate he will soon be our number 1 and is good news for the Czechs. Another plus point is the form of Jean-Marc Struthers. He has just got better and better and is now a fully established UL heat leader. He is so laid back about things and takes it all in his stride. I'm sure he will be fighting with Tibor for top spot. The biggest plus for us though is how Kenneth Krough is progressing. Only 18 and in just his second year of UL speedway he has put almost 1.5 points on his average over the first 6 meetings. His Dad is always with him and keeps his feet firmly on the ground. This young man can go as far as he wants to and hopefully with us. We can also keep him at reserve for the next 6 matches which is a huge benefit to us. His reserve partner Shane Rumsey has made a solid start to life in the top league after jumping up 3 leagues. He has gone off for some coaching and hopefully we will see the benefit of that over the coming weeks.
In the JJ Nick Turner is progressing nicely. He hasn't hit the dizzy heights of our previous rider Ray France but is steadily getting better results. He is inside the top 32 at the moment and hopefully will be able to grab a semi-final spot this year.
Talking of Ray France what superb progress he is making at Charlemont. I will be keeping a close eye on him now he is in the main body of the team but have no doubts that he will be able to carry on his good early season form. Another of our assets, Peter Doyle, is really riding well in the PL at Wolston. He is on a near 10 point average and is now their number 1. All this is good news for us and putting a team together from our assets for next season will be interesting.
