Teesside Transporters have been denied the chance to bring in their own rider Giles Hill for the remainder of the season.
Teesside wanted to recall 17-year-old Hill from his successful loan spell at Durham, to replace Tobias Burestad - who is averaging just over 2 so far this season.
But the NSSPA have denied Teesside the option to bring in him, despite the fact that no Ultimate League rules were being breached.
"The NSSPA have said no, they feel Hill is better riding in the AL for Durham - that is despite the fact Giles is a Teesside rider, a Teesside asset and I know he was looking forward to the chance - it would have provided him with a great few months of learning.
"We have to accept it but morally we think the situation stinks, he is our rider and whether they agree that he is ready or not we should be able to sign any rider we like, especially one who we own.
"We have other options we have to pursue now but we are not happy, our fans are not happy and Giles is not happy - but as long as Durham and the NSSPA are ok, we guess that is the main thing."

Graeme,
I am glad you write about the 'Hill deal' as we can advise your fellow managers how you wanted to get your rider back off loan without contacting the manager of the loaning club, which we thought was a little underhand too.
Hill is a first year rider (straight from the JJ, yes he is 17 and took a little longer to make the journey through the JJ so that should tell its own story) and now needs time to settle in to the cut and thrust of team speedway, he has just moved into the main body of the AL team after spending 6 meetings at reserve,
Yes in theory Hill could be fitted in on his current CMA adjustment, what bothered us was the reality of bringing him in (however much you colour the situation) it was no more than a change for changes sake, Hill is better learning and earning rather than being another pointless rider, yes I believe in time Hill could prove his worth, but not this season.

Cats promoter Sean Wood has seen fit to weigh in on another Teesside transfer saga "Personally I can see both sides, yeah, he's their rider, so maybe they should be able to call him up, but not without the agreement, or even the knowledge of the team he's on loan with, you can't ride roughshod over common decency, or why would anyone want to loan a Teesside asset if the rug could be pulled out from under you at any moment? I can certainly see the NSSPA's stance too, it's a pretty big leap and could ruin the lad's career."
"I can't help but think Teesside might regret not following up our agreement for a free loan of Miecyslaw Zielinski, they approached us a few weeks back after the Cats made changes, we quickly agreed to a free loan and then we heard no more, they'd be in a stronger position right now if that move had gone through!"

"Shocked and bemused" was the comment from the Durham camp when hearing about the Giles Hill controversy. "This has taken us completely by surprise - the first thing we knew about this was reading the press release from Teesside. While we accept the fact that Giles is their rider, we would have expected the courtesy of being told of their intentions if they wanted to call him back. We have had no contact and as far as we were concerned both Giles and Teesside were happy with the arrangement. He has certainly been a star performer of us this season, and until we are told otherwise he will continue to ride for us.
We would also like to put it on record that we have had absolutely no involvement in any decision made by the NSSPA and were slightly disturbed by the insinuation that there was a joint decision made in our and the NSSPAs interests."

Sorry Graeme i must also agree what others have said we have a rider at East London by the name of Wayne Josephs a super little rider but he belongs to Newmarket we have him on loan but although he is there asset he is a renegade rider so his priorities at least till the end of the season will be East London not Newmarket.

Teesside boss Graeme Bailey was remaining tight lipped on most of the issue surrounding the recent transfer saga involving Giles Hill, but when asked about Durham not being contacted, he stated: "We never got the green light, hence there was no need to let Durham know - if we let everyone know about intentions of something, we would have little time to do anything else."
Milton Keynes Cats also weighed into the argument, including revealing talks about Miecyslaw Zielinski - something which Bailey was far from happy about: "Yes made contact, but it soon became apparent we could not actually fit him in, but for this to become public is thoroughly unprofessional on every level - to confirm Teesside will not be doing business with any promotion that reveals private talks in such a manner."
Bailey confirmed that Teesside have a deal in place to replace Burestad, adding: "We have agreed terms for a rider which will be revealed soon - thankfully it is with a trusted promotion who will not reveal our plans in public.
"However, this will also be down to the NSSPA giving permission and that is normally down to which way the wind is blowing, so you never know - now that opinion is brought into the law making of the sport, you just don't know where you are," added Bailey.
"The Hill transfer met every criteria for the Ultimate League, but that was denied to us so we just hope this latest deal might get the green light."

With all the hot air coming out of Teesside we are considering moving to the North East as the palm trees at Southend are getting over fed by the continuing rainy spells this summer. Another reason is the winds blowing through the NSSPA HQ are causing us considerable neck pain.
On a more serious note I think this post has run its time.
Graeme as for your latest rider the NSSPA will have no objections to the transfer, as we both know there are reasons he cannot sign for you just now.
