Theres dancing in the streets of Wantage again as another trophy is added to the cabinet after a hard fought victory over the MK Cats. The cats were the better side for much of the 1st leg and were probably frustrated that the Kings were able to pull away at the end. That was thanks largely to Matija Petkovic, immense over the 2 legs who probably had 2 of his best meetings of the season. His victories in 2 of the last 3 heats were enough to open up a 6 point lead, although all 7 riders contributed. Only captain Lars Meldgaard wasn't paid for a win.
The 2nd leg followed a similar pattern with the cats opening up a lead before the Kings fought back. The result wasn't confirmed until the final heat where a 5-1 to MK would have forced a run off. however Petkovic and Filippe Chong kept Grand Prix leader Liam Reay at bay.
Boss Craig Richardson summed up the feelings in the camp. "We are over the moon to have secured another trophy, our first major UL award. The lads will all go out and celebrate this. Commiserations to the Cats, who contributed to an excellent final. I'm sure they'll soon forget this if they clinch the title next week."
