The Lightning's David Bedford was devastated after just failing to make the GPs finishing second to Henrik Hansen in a run-off for the final position. In a double blow he was then told he had been overlooked for one of the two wild card positions.
Bedford said "Henrik just slightly out gated me in the run-off and there was no way past with only one dirt line to go for. I had the worst gate in my final ride so couldn't get the extra point I needed to make sure. Fair play to Henrik he won fair and square. On the other hand I am so disappointed not to get a wild card spot. I thought I had done more than enough over the season and just losing out n the run-off. I know I am a much better rider than the two picked but if they don't want the best riders in the series then so be it. Sour grapes......you bet it is!!"

It was a very close call for the wild card picks.
David was very much in the thinking but his nationality did him no favours with so many English riders already in there. A hair's breadth between the top couple but sadly someone had to miss out. He'll just have to prove the selection committee wrong by qualifying back in next season!
