In the first press conference of the new season the Falmouth Falcons have announced that they have decided to keep four of the team which managed to secure promotion during last season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly the first name to be signed up was fan favourite Kris Major, who is back after winning rider of the season in the previous campaign. Kris is a rider who has been with the Falcons since it was started several seasons ago and has improved his average year on year. We are expecting the same of him again and if he can become a solid second string he will be a great signing.
Joining him will be Falmouth other veteran Theo Craven who has again been here since the club began. Theo and Kris have both been with us through both the amateur and evo leagues and have improved constantly each season. We expect both of them to be neck and neck in the averages and this means we also want Theo to become a solid second string rider. Theo has the added bonus of starting at reserve and we hope he can score very well from there.
Our 3rd signing was reserve specialist Jules Roux, who's fantastic end of season displays played a pivotal role in our promotion success. Jules didn't start last season particularly well, but his form in the last six matches means that he's ridden his way into our team plans last season. We spoke to the riders after the last team change last season telling them that places for next season were up for grabs. Jules responded the most out of the team and this mean we couldn't leave him out this season.
The final signing in our team is last seasons number one Olle Nyman. Olle was the spearhead last season and without him I doubt very much we'd have got promoted. He took a little while to get going last year like Jules, but once he did he was near on unstoppable. If he carries on last seasons form into this year we feel he can easily raise his average considerably. He's a rider with the potential to go far in this sport and we think he's at the right club to harness his undoubted talent.
We are at an advance stage of negotiating with our other riders and are hopeful we can announce the full team by the end of next week. If everyone fits together we feel that it should be a side challenging for honours.
