Estuary Whales latest teenage protege Charlie Humphries has a long way to go, he is a typical teenager with plenty to say and not much time to listen, at a recent get together at The Flight Path, skipper Justin Ross and coaches Wayne Templeton and Carl Porter made Charlie sit down on the pit wall and watch as other Whales took to the track, using Jordan Trott as an example of what they expect from Charlie, but also making him realise that hard work and listening are things he needs to start to appreciate to be anyone in this sport.
To start with Charlie is off to Rob Golsby's boot camp this week to work with staff at coaching academy for JJ riders.
Fred Taylor said he has a few rough edges, but is a likeable lad, we don't expect miracles as long as he improves thats all we can expect from work in progress.

Charlie spent time with the JJ academy coaches and after some dialogue seemingly improved on a few areas to get a prediction of almost a 1/2 a point improvement.
Coming back to the Flight Path Charlie has been made to demonstrate and explain his learning's to the boss, our coaches and team captain Justin Ross.
Charlie is still has much to learn but getting him this one on one coaching will have helped him, now armed with the coaches report our own in house coaches can work closely on the improvements made to further improve Charlie.
Coach Carl Porter is anxious to get Charlie more understanding of our sport that he can take to the track with him.
Thanks JJ Academy Coaches until the next time we will be doing our own in house work following your guidelines.

HUMPH SETTLES IN
Charlie has made a steady start and sits 31st overall after registering 6 then 9 points in his opening two meetings, our coaches say Charlie is learning his way nicely, we took him back to the Flight Path and ironed out a few things, we will continue to sort things in house then give him another run out at the Sim Academy hopefully in time for him to pick up the momentum towards the end of the season and giving him a chance of a GP place, we can only ask Charlie to listen, learn and perform to the best of his ability, we know he is a little fish in a bigger pond but this could help his progress as he grows into the season.

AS the JJ progresses Charlie (Humphries) has been working hard with coaches and senior riders at Estuary to start to show a little form, his 12 in week 6 the highlight of his season to date.
Our work with Charlie is long term so we didn't expect superstar performances, he has youth on his side and we are sure Charlie will mature in our sport.
Charlie currently sits 7th in the South and 27th overall after 4 rounds, Charlie has 32 points.
GREAT EFFORT

Week 7 saw Charlie in inspired form after his trip to the coaches, Charlie tied on points with Sebastien Cartwright on 13 points and was 1 point better than Ellis Nelson and Liam Gilbertson who raced off for 3rd place.
The coaches on Thameside are very pleased with Charlies early form, he currently sits 6th in the South and in 23rd place overall.
Although the omens are good for Charlie, the Whales managers were looking at Charlie as rider who will build his skill base before jumping into the AL, with a slow methodical progress and be a winner by the time he makes the jump.

Charlie boy had his best meeting to date a brilliant top of the podium finish for our excitable youngster.
He is self educating and learning loads from his track time, but our coaches are working with him to put good thought into his head whilst he has a good team working on his bikes, (yes bikes he collected a third the other week) he has brought a 2016/17 bike from our fans favourite Ben Leighton.
We are nurturing the youngster and will not pressure him this season as he makes his way in the sport, but nice to see him hit the headlines so early in his career.

Charlie enjoyed more success in gaining 11 points to head the SOUTH leader board and looks comfortable in 12th place overall.
Fred and Wayne were both on scene to witness his efforts at Smallmead, young Charlie is taking shape nicely were their thoughts, we had seen him as work in progress, we still wouldn't like him to make the jump and struggle as often youngsters do.
But we are proud the coaches are getting through and young Charlie is listening and learning.

Charlie finished 4th behind Knight, Davenport and Mullins at Tilbury's Dunlop Road track.
He now sits top of the South and 11th overall, he needs to keep up the hard work for a GP place later in the season.

A poor showing on home ground by Charlie, his 6 points saw him remain in 3rd place in the South which in his first year was an exceptional effort, here at the club we never push our riders but anticipate a 2 year learning before getting to the AL, we are more than happy Charlie has done so well to reach the semi-finals where in the overall list he sits in 16th place.
However there are a number of riders below him who will pressure his GP place, wherever his season ends we will be very happy with his progress.
WELL DONE CHARLIE and the CLUB COACHES for getting you this far!!!!!!!!!
