The Castaways are ready and cannot wait for the season to start a new track shop has been built and a new track grader has also been purchased so with the air fence and a track that will now always be superbly prepared we have one of the safest and most exciting tracks in the country so we hope to see you all at the place of pace Wilkinson Field.
On the team front we have had to completely rebuild our team having to replace everyone it has been a tough task but finally everything is in place so hopefully we will have an exciting time this season at Canvey here is our new 1 to 7
No 1. Johannes Flood = A man with a very cool name rode last year for the Stockholm Scorpions but wanted to ride in the best league in the world this year and we are pleased he has decided to join us we have had good reports about him from out contacts in Sweden and he looked very fast on press and practice day a typical swede blonde hair and blue eyes sure to become a big Favorite with the ladies..
No.2 Charlie Noone = A big Favourite at Canvey and a popular choice Charlie has never been an overnight sensation but he has grafted at his chosen profession and by the end of last season he had become East London's number 1 rider both parties now believe it is time for him to step up so watch this space.
No.3 Zolton Benko = Zolton comes in at number three a very exciting rider in our ranks and one i am sure will become a big favourite with the fans as he is fast and wild going so wide that he could easily get a pint in the bar as he roars past although we would not condone any rider drinking whilst the meeting was on.
No.4 Steven McDonald = last seasons number one Academy league rider and lucky for us but unfortunate for southside Oglala his average was to high for him to continue in that league so we had a deal in places half way through last season if his form was to continue we wanted him at Canvey so we were lucky to get him and a rider we are looking forward to watching him to see if he can continue where he left off in the Academy League.
No.5 = David Charlton = The vastly experienced Charlton joins us this season he is more then capable of being out number one so i think there is going to be a big battle between him and johannes for the number one spot as long as they both know that the club must come first there is nothing wrong with a bit of friendly rivalry will be interesting to see how it pans out over the season.
No.6 = Dale Hawkins another rider with a long association with Canvey Asked if he could have another crack of riding in the power league as he believed he didn't do himself justice last time he rode for us in this league so we were happy to oblige.
No.7 = Rhodri Szczygiel = had a great season riding for Reading last season and at the moment his confidence is sky high and another who is hoping that second time around he can do better and a rider who i believe deserves to get on but only time will tell.
So that's the supercool Castaways for the 2016-17 season i hope the fans get behind this team as i believe will could be chasing honours if we are not then it will not be for the want of trying so follow the cool Castaways from Canvey Island in our quest for a return to the ultimate league go the Castaways .
Would also like to thanks my fellow promoters Charlie Gow at Lanarkshire for the loan of Zolton Benko and Robert Elliot for Steven McDonald and to the help i received from Mike Pearce at Iwade.
