At the halfway point of the season the Falcons are on course for their most successful season to date. Sitting top of the table together with last year’s rivals the Sheffield Dons and with a place in the KO cup final assured the fans have quite rightly been happy with team performances so far.
The team know that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to achieve the main aim of promotion to the Ultimate League with performances in the next couple of week’s key due to the average changes after week 12.
Sven Svensson- Has led the team very well so far. Although his average has gone down slightly from last season he’s always stepped up to the plate in last heat deciders or during vital races. Hopefully he’ll become slightly more consistent during the latter stage of the season as on his day he’s up there with the best in the league.
Kris Major- Another consistent performer who can be relied upon when the pressure is on. His average has stayed static this year, which considering his increase last year is understandable. Need’s to continue to back up Sven and maintain his average.
Olle Nyman- The main man last year he’s had to be content with the 3rd heat leader role this season. We’re looking for slightly more from him during the second half of the season, with his age and ability there is plenty of room for improvement. How he performs will be key to the end of season position.
Theo Craven- One of the old guard, a two point increase on his initial average has made him our man of the season so far. Is pushing Olle all the way for the 3rd heat leader position and we’ll need him to continue to do so. If he can keep this average it gives us a very strong top 4 who should be able to nick some more results away from home.
Hasse Blomqvist- Brought into the side following his excellent Euro League form he hasn’t been able to replicate this thus far. Despite this he’s shown in certain meetings what ability he has. Need’s to improve his consistency but this should happen as he gets more used to the league. Am expecting him and Sven to provide us with a big top two for the final stages of the season.
Dion Debbage- Come into the team based on an early recommendation but so far has found it hard to cope. We’ve helped him a little bit financially in the last couple of weeks so are hoping he can begin to crack on an score us some vital points at reserve.
Janis Viyups- Another young rider who was going to take a while to adapt he’s been solid if unremarkable so far. Performed excellently in the KO semi-finals against one of the best reserves in the league, hopefully this is a springboard for the rest of the season. Our one to watch for the rest of the season has the potential for some huge scores at reserve and we’ll need him to do this if we are to keep the top spot!
