Trio Renew Contracts For 2017 Season
Charlemont Chargers have secured the services of three riders from last years disappointing campaign. Chris Williams, Jaques Moursin and Craig Leonard have all decided to ride at The All Saints Stadium for another year and the club have continued with provide the side with continuity year on year. Chris Williams has been ever faithful to The Pride and has become an all out favorite with the fans. He has been at the club since its founding and is already reported by many fan to be a club legend after being pivotal in the promotion winning sides in the last two years. He returns on a 6.69 average, and average that doesn't show his true potential after it was lowered in what was a difficult year last year but he will be back to make up for it to his home fans.
Next to return is Moursin who was one of the sides steadiest riders last year and he comes in this year as one of the top riders in the septet and will be pushing for the number one jacket all season. It is yet known if he will be at number one this year but with his average of 8.79, it would be an aggressive top end side for him to slip down the order.
And the third rider to opt to stay is Craig Leonard, the JJ of two seasons ago has really pushed on his development and will start this season on a 8.28 average. Most of his development has come in the higher league and hopefully this will stand him in good stead for the coming season. It is a great passion of club manager Steven Hunt to bring through top riders and believes that Craig Leonard is a great a tribute for the club and a great example to the new youngsters joining the club in 2017 for the new and revamped Juvenile Jaunt.
Manager Steven Hunt Comments
'First of all Id just like to thanks the three guys for signing so quickly, last season I wasn't the best manager for them but they have listened to my apologies, ideas for this year and the promises that this season will be different. We need to put it behind us, it was a disaster of season but being relegated was a difficult outcome. We had two successive promotions and it was great learning curve but we struggled to build a solid side and make the changes that would turn the season around. Finding reserves that will progress is key to a successful campaign and we have yet to find our for this year but we have got the top end and a couple of middle order riders sorted. We have a big announcement to come soon, but we are yet to get clearance that the rider will defiantly ride in the blue white and gold of the Charlemont Chargers.'
'The rider in question is known to the fans, and there have been murmurings about his arrival. We believe it a huge scoop and will provide us with some big hitting scores at the top end of our side. We need to get back to the next tier, and the ambition is to get to the very top and be the very best. It need dedication and it needs full commitment and this season I hope to provide that and provide the focus that the team will be able to carry the side forward and upwards.'
'As for out going riders we will unfortunately loose, Carsten Ostenstad. We have had offers and they seem to be in the right ball park but we are negotiating a deal that is right for the club. Carsten is a top top talent and he was a luxury to have in the side last year even though it wasn't that successful. His average in this league would be a little to high and he deserves to be in the top flights of Sim Speedway.'
'We are also looking to get young Tyler Sweetman a ride in the AL. It would be great for him to get a reserve spot next year and really showcase his talent. He is a great lad and a great young rider but he just needs to be given a chance. His 3.00 average looks very appealing as I see him finishing the year around the 5 point mark so he would be a great addition to a side in the bottom tier.'
