With the Kings Lynn side all signed and sealed in double quick time I thought I would let the rest of the UL know exactly what they were up aginst as they all try to wrestle the title from our grasp. So here is our 1-7.
David Bedford (Captain) - Finished last season in superb form winning the ULRC and qualifying for the GP series. His upturn in form was one of the main reasons we stormed to the title and he was the first name on my team list for this season. If he carries on this season in the same vain he will easily push his average above the 9 point mark.
Tibor Nemecek - Had a fantastic season on loan at Milton Keynes becoming their number 1 and putting over a point on his average. He also won the GP Challenge so will be debuting in the GP series along with David Bedford. He will form a potent top 2 with our skipper which will make us strong in heat 13 and most of heat 15s.
Carsten Ostenstad - Signed from Charlemont with whom he valiantly tried to keep in the PL last season. Deserves his chance in the top league this season. Recommended by Ray France who rode with him last season he will be looking to push on with his career and will provide good support for our top 2.
Ray France - I have been waiting for the moment I could put him in Lightning kevlars. He has had 3 seasons at Charlemont who have looked after him extremely well. Ray was disappointed not to make the World U21 final last season and will have that in his sights this. He will be starting in the main body of the team but I am confident he can more than hold his own. He will be positioned next to David Bedford in the pits so he can talk to and learn from one of the best.
Kenneth Krogh - Kenneth will start his 3rd season with us and has improved year on year. I totally believe he will make a big breakthrough this season and push his average to around the 7 point mark. If he can do that he will challenge Carsten for that 3rd heat leader spot and those pints will be invaluable to support our top 2 riders.
Kamil Ulabek - We will have a rider at reserve who rode in last season's GP Challenge Semi-Final. We brought him in for the final third of last season and certainly didn't see the best of him. He is a much better rider than an average of 5.00 would suggest. I see him as our trump card for the early weeks of the season and don't envisage him being at reserve after 6 matches have been ridden. The team was built especially to have him starting at reserve.
Shane Rumsey - In an ideal world Shane would have been loaned out to a lower league side this season. Trouble is his average allows us more options in other areas of the team. This will be Shane's third season staring for us in the UL and the hope is he can at least hit his average. I think he can do better than that but no pressure is on him especially if the rest of the team perform as we know they can.
So there you are fellow UL managers do your worst. At the start of last season I said we would be hard to beat and anyone finishing above us would win the league. We know now nobody did of course. I'm going to predict exactly the same again because I think you'll agree that is a pretty tasty looking side.
