The joy of promotion is past and we now have to battle to retain our PL status, if not a promotion push.
The captain is back, Tony Clipstone has signed on and will be hoping to improve his average because he wants his #1 jersey back.
Vaclav Ruzucha was tied up and threatened with the bottom of the Derwent if he hadn't signed. Wait a minute, that is what a section of the supporters club threatened to do to me if we couldn't get him to stay. The stand out rider last season and seems to enjoy the big occasions.
Dexter Last had an offer to stay in EL or drop back down to AL, but has decided a higher league is needed to continue to progress. He was a 3 point rider in the AL only two seasons ago.
Now for the new skids, agreeing to become our #1, from Tweedside via Rome, Mark Briggs. Always a potent visitor and great mate of former skipper, Mark Black.
Joining on loan from Wednesfield, we have Janne Sarjale. Initially had agreed a deal for Cleator Moor, but my Excel skills were lacking and we are pleased that the deal could be swayed to get him to line up for Workington.
We have kept the Finnish flag flying by landing Jonnas Juhola, an experienced rider that should be able to hold down his reserve spot, if not improve.
One more to find.

Hans Lehsmeyer is the final piece in the Loghead jigsaw. He comes in from a good EL season for Stockport, where his away average was over 8 and shown great potential. Scoring paid 14 in KOC semi final against us was what really forced us to pay him attention.

Czech Under 21s advance to the WTC Final, with Loghead's Ruzucha in the quartet.

Jonnas Juhola has been released by the club, not his fault as we were hoping that we could afford to carry him until he found his feet. Rocky Reason has resigned for his local team. He knows the fans expectations and reckon that he can up his average. It will bring the roof down if he wins Heat 2.
Clipstone has been getting most of the stick from the fans, but that is because they expect to be winning every race still. Briggs is the weakest #1 in the league, but Ruzucha is only just behind him. Both are now looking for a good set of six matches that will see them take the #1 Jersey. Last continues to improve at a steady rate and Lehsmeyer is a world beater at home. Sarjale is one of the top averaging reserves, but needs to pick up more points against visiting heat leaders.
The team have been told to pick things up or changes will have to be made. We may be the strongest team in the league (holding everyone else up), but there is no single rider performing that badly every week. We have high expectations in Workington and patience is rare with a losing side.

After finding ourselves adrift at the bottom and the danger of the fire going out, Workington have made further changes.
First off, signed from Europe, Anders Solberg. He's top of the Div 2 averages and thanks to Zagreb for making the deal so easy
Second, signed from the sister side, Stanislaw Zabek. It makes the Phoenix weaker hitting double figures from reserve, but Logheads need to survive in the Power League.

A sad end to the season for Workington. Not only did the team changes fail but the curtain closing sees the Logheads relegated again.
Almost to add salt to the wounds, Cleator Moor have closed their doors for the final time.
Onwards and upwards to the promised land, we tried and succeeded once, no reason we can't get there again.

Hi Mark,
You are first in the queue for his services. OK to take him loan?
Got no idea on team building at the moment, too many variables after closure of CMP.
