At the annual pre season fans forum Falcons manager Stephen Gardner was able to announce the F alcons full line-up for the new season. We believe that this team should at least be able to retain its UL status and with a bit of luck push at the top end of the table.
At number 1 is new signing Gabrys Irzyk who joins the team on a 9.39 average.
“One thing we’ve always tried to do at the Falcons is bring in a top class number one. Someone we can rely on in the big heats who will give the fans something to get excited about. In Gabrys we’ve brought in one of the best riders in the world, the fact that he comes in on a full transfer means we can use him in seasons to come. We feel he should be able to maintain his average and spearhead the team for the foreseeable future. Thanks to the Terriors for the easy deal on this one."
The number 2 position goes to fan favourite Olle Nyman.
“Olle seems to be a good luck charm for the side; we’ve been promoted in both seasons he’s ridden for us. He was solid for us last season and we think he’ll be able to do the same for us again. Has the potential to improve his average and if he can push for the heat leader position he’d of had an excellent season with us.
Sven Svensson joins us taking the 2nd heatleader role.
“Sven was a massive part of our side last season and has done a number of things post season to show us he’s looking to advance to the next level this year. He’s got some new bikes and has really gone to town with his fitness pre season. I’d be very surprised if he didnt increase his average significantly this year and qualify for the GP’s in the process.
Swedish talent Hasse Blomqvist rides at number 4.
“Hasse will be the first to admit that his debut season in the British league didn’t go to plan. He really excelled on the continent but took time to adjust to the tracks over here. However the guy is a massive talent and has the potential to go all the way to the top. It was a no brainer to put him in the side this year and I’m expecting him to improve his average significantly this season.
The flying Russian Denis Gomozov joins the squad at number 5.
“Denis was a rider who I wasn’t sure would want to ride for us pre season, like Hasse he seemed to excel in Europe but struggle in the UK. Our new number 1 recommended him to us and after a quick trial on our track we rushed in to get him on board. The best rider in the European leagues he has the potential and experience to be a top end heatleader this year. Possibly one of the most exciting riders in the world on his day, he’s sure to bring the crowds in.”
Young talent Janis Viyups is the first reserve in the side taking the number 6 jacket.
“Me and Mike Butler were both really impressed with the professionalism of this rider. Coming over from Latvia aged 17 is no mean feat for anyone but Janis took it all in his stride last year. He did very well to reach the U21 final last season, he’s great under pressure and if he continues to progress will be a fantastic rider in years to come.
Last but not least the ever present Theo Craven takes the last spot in our side.
"Theos been with us since our days in the AL and is someone who we will always be looking to keep in our side. Has increased his average every year with us and we want him to do the same this year. Both he and Janis will be looking to get into the main body of the side this year."
