This Charming Man Completes The Chargers
Mark Morrisey has signed for the West Bromwich based speedway side the Charlemont Chargers, completing the septet for the coming season. The 30 year old Irishman comes in to take a reserve birth on his 4.31 average to add a strength to the tail end of the team and support his young team mate at reserve Ashley Wakerley. Morrisey signs from the NSSPA after previously not riding in Sim Speedway before. Its been a gamble to take on Mark but he fits the side nicely and completes a very strong looking side for the Evolution League.
Manager Steven Hunt Comments
'We welcome Mark to the side and hopefully he can have a good season with us. We wanted to get all our deals in quickly and we had a lot of avenues to explore, some were shut and we cannot see why when it would have meant some young riders could have still rode in the pinnacle leagues of the sport but are now riding abroad. We may come back for these guys throughout the season if doesnt work out or we have injuries.'
'Mark will be key to the side and he can push forward in his career with us, he has experience from other league around the world and he starts at reserve so it a good mix of low average but strong rider.'
'Last year I was a bit lax, and a bit to kind to my riders. We stuck with some riders even if they was not performing but this year they lads know that we can operate a revolving door and if they want to keep a ride and earn strong money that we have offered then they have to perform. I understand that it may come a bit strong before we even start the season but my view on what I want for this team has changed and we want to see it successful at the very top.'
'This club is going to one of the best in history of this sport, I invest my time in this team and I want it to succeed. Last year I didnt have that attitude and it showed in my riders who had not trust with me, we have rebuilt this side with the riders focused and they know now what I want for our fans and the future. This club will be the academy of the leagues and at the pinnacle of the mountain within five season. Bold statement I know but watch this club prosper and provide.'
