Wednesfield Wanderers progressed to the KO Cup quarter finals after a race off against defending league champions Kings Lynn. A 47-41 defeat away from home gave Wednesfield hope at the Kingo for the second leg but Kings Lynn battled back after the aggregate scores were drawn level at heat 7 and it looked like a comfortable win after a heat 13 home 5-1 but 2 consecutive away 2-4's forced the race off which was won by Nikita Federenko over Nemecek. Manager Steve Morgan said after an exciting 30 heats, " it was a strange away performance with only Nikita getting double points and us only having 5 heat wins. But with over 2000 home fans cheering us on at the Kingo, we rode class to draw the meeting over 30 heats and then win it with the drama of the race off. Great to see Giles Hill getting 9 at reserve, Nikita carrying on his good form with paid 13 and Boris notching paid 11 from number 1. Points were chipped in by the other boys showing we can be competitive this season......"
