Well the 2017 season is finally underway and what a start is was with a pulsating meeting away to the Wizards of Westwood . Lets hope all our bad luck has been used in this match as most things that could go wrong did !!!! . It started with a double fall in the first heat with number one Ben Harris falling heavily whilst leading and having to withdraw from the meeting , with Brynmor also falling in the restart a 0-5 reverse was not the greatest way to start a new season !!!! . The rest of the lads then dug in with young Tyler again gaining bonus points and he is looking like an inspired signing at reserve. With all the other lads scoring six or above it came down to Russ and Noah to get a 5-1 in the final heat to get the Vikings a well deserved point and boy did they deliver as they flew from the tapes to a massive roar from the away crowd and a draw which looked highly unlikely as the meeting started. Onto next week and our first home league meeting at the Arena as we welcome the riders, management and fans of the Blunsdon Bombers as we look to continue our excellent pre season home form.

Necron Knights 50 - 39 Foxhall Vikings
The away day blues continue for the Vikings as another heavy defeat shows the league new boys they still have a lot of work to do this season . Great returns for Ben and Noah with 11 and 12 respectively but this was a day when too many others struggling. The Vikings were well in the meeting until heat 6 when a 5-1 reverse and then both riders falling in heat 7 giving Necron the chance they needed to pull clear and with only half the team firing it became and impossible job. Changes have been made to the starting order as we meet the knights again in next weeks knock out cup Q/F two legged meeting .

I think Necron are rapidly becoming our first ever bogey side as we now lose our third meeting between the two sides in this two legged knock out cup quarter final defeat. In the first leg we traveled to Necron after making some line up changes after the first meeting in the league. We went down 50-40 but with high hopes of making up the difference in the home leg but as we know this would not be the case with us going doing down 44-46 . Captain Ben Harris again failed to produce with five paid six from four rides and this is a situation that must improve if we are to compete this season. With Danny scoring a blank to add to our woes this really was a meeting to forget. Obviously Danny struggled last season at Estuary and it was hoped this would be his chance to show what he could do. Next up for the Vikings is back here at the Viking arena against the East London Renegades who are currently flying high in second.

I think that's what I call squeeky bum time as your Vikings manage to hold on and win 45-44. Our biggest problem this season seems to be staying upright as again we had three falls and this is what nearly cost us the meeting. Russ and Ben certainly played there part with Noah having a quiet meeting , the reserves again performed ahead of expectation , the real problem in the side now is the form of Danny Dixey. After hes less than explosive season with me last year at Estuary it was hoped that a changed of scenery could make all the difference but this hasn't happened and he is in real danger of losing his place when the new averages come out. As it stands at the moment we are joint second. Next week is the first of our derby matches this season as we make the very short journey up the A14 to meet our near neighbours the Ipswich Cowboys .

NOT GOOD ENOUGH was the simple fact after this embarassing defeat to our neighbours Ipswich. Our lower order riders really let themselves the management and the fans down as Brynmor,Danny,Russell and Tyler only scored seven between them. Noah led the line as he was again in magnificent form ably assisted by Russ and Ben. Unfortunately patience has finally worn to thin with Danny and this week will be his last meeting for the Vikings. There is just no sign of improvement and we can't afford to carry him any longer . News on his replacement will be released over the next couple of weeks.

Thats better !!!!
Back on home shale and what a result for your John Grose Vikings as they put league leaders and 100% Leeds Jaguars to the sword in a 52-38 demolition. Not only this but we stop there top man Marcus Jay scoring a single race win. Everyone on the team contributed apart from Danny but this wont be happening again after he rode his last meeting for the Vikings. With the new averages our and Noah moving to number one a new rider will be in place before we resume.

Well another commanding home win for the Vikings with a 52-38 victory against the Burslem Braves. A great debut for new boy Jack Ramsay with a paid five from reserve and Tyler scoring his first win in the main team on his way to four points. Noah may take a couple of weeks to settle in his new number one position but he by no way disgraced himself helping the team all evening. Next up is the four team tournament and then we will see if we can keep this up on the road as we look for our first away points of the season

Well change of rider order and a new face but same old away performance as we go down 51-39 to the Harlow Hawks. Our heat leaders scored the points but they weren't ably backed up by the rest of the side. Its now really looking like travel sickness as we still can't find that winning formula on the road . Next up for your Vikings is another away trip to York.

Another week , another road trip , another defeat , this is definitely starting to take on a familiar theme and changes to the riding order will definitely be made for our next away meeting if we are to have any chance of collecting some bonus points to get back into the promotion frame

The Vikings continue there great form at the Viking arena as they hammer the Westwood Wizards 53 - 37 there biggest win of the season so far and gain the bonus point 97-81. The meeting was never in doubt with two 5-1's in the first two heats . Number one Noah just missing out on a full maximum when he was beaten for the only time by an opposition rider in the final heat. Every rider played there part in this emphatic win , the only blot on the evening being the fall in heat 4 as Jack got his foot caught in the stand of another rider and he went down hard. After a long pause he was taken back to the pits in an ambulance but luckily while it is very sore he should only be out for two weeks. Next up for your third place Vikings is the three team tournament.

We came .... we saw .... we so nearly won !!!! Great meeting for the boys tonight as they drew 45-45 and took the bonus point again. The obvious highlight was the full maximum for the skipper Noah but the whole team deserves the post meeting champagne including Connor Short , our young academy rider who rode in place of the injured Jack. And what a debut with a race win , the first of hopefully many more. Next up at home for the Vikings will be a big test as they meet the Necron Knights who sit one place above us in second.

AN AWAY WIN !!!! Its taken all season but we can finally start a report with those immortal words after a great team performance in our 43-47 victory. It looked highly unlikely at the half way point with the Vikings trailing by 10 after heat six. But an amazing fight back in the second half with three 5-1's and a 4-2 in the last five heats. It was great to see Will Huntsman finally find his feet with an excellent 5 plus 3 in his new riding position.
Next it onto a massive home meeting against the league leaders Harlow Hawks with us only one point behind , we have it all to do though after going down 51-39 in the away leg. So come and see your Vikings try and take the league title race to the final week and hunt down the Hawks.
