Teesside Transporters have made an early move and changed their line-up and they have once again done a SIM first with the signing of Brazilian starlet Lucio Vilanova.
Teesside have decided to step down Belgian Wout Ledereq who has struggled in the opening two matches of the UL campaign and behind the scenes Transporters chief Graeme Bailey has been working hard looking at options.
Following some try outs at the Dock Yard and work between Bailey and his coach - former international rider Daniel Lawson - they have come up with Vilanova as the name they want.
The Moto-X sensation has decided in recent months to try his hand at the shale and he has taken to it like a duck to water and reports on him have persuaded Bailey to make the move.
"We have done our homework, and we had a number of options. We spoke to Wout before the loss at Hampden and he has been struggling, we still think he is capable but it is not doing him any good.
"So we have gone with Lucio who will become the first Brazilian ever in this league - he has motorsport pedigree and it is a gamble we are taking, we know that but he is already on his way - we have garages sorted for him and we hope he can settle well. With the football club having a rich heritage of signing South Americans, he will be popular and find many friends on Teesside."
Bailey confirmed number one Hans E Bergestol was out for a month. "Hans has had no luck, his engine blew first ride at Hampden, he easily won his second and was then taken off in his third and damaged his hip. We have told him to take his time. We know what we are doing in terms of a guest for him and shouldn't weaken us but we will miss his leadership but he will be around in the pits as that is the sort of guy he is."
