When I initially closed Burslem, it was with a heavy heart. I knew the league was expanding, and I wasn't sure there was a place for a team whose main purpose was to develop a new generation of riders to move up to Tunstall.
When I heard that the league was expanding again, I took a long hard look at myself, and I questioned whether I wanted the Braves name to be heard once more in Sim.
I thought about it, and then I realised, the Braves belonged in the league, but not in the way I had previously ran them. The only way riders can truly progress is with a team that is serious about winning, because that winning mentality is what will help a rider reach the top of the tree.
So, the Braves are back. I may be the name on the door, but I won't be the person making the day to day decisions. I am delighted to announce that former Braves coach (And Terriors rider) Mike Auffret has decided to step into the breach and take his first shot at running a club.
"Honestly, when I got the call, I couldn't quite believe it." said a delighted Mike. "I have a lot of good memories of my time at Burslem, and I was saddened when I saw that they had folded initially. While I will obviously use my contacts with Tunstall to bring in riders, my primary goal is to make Burslem the powerhouse in Stoke on Trent, and one day eclipse the Terriors. Whether that can be done is another matter, but I will give my everything to making this team a success"
