Usually drawing at home would be a disappointing result. However, coming back from 8 points down to take a point left us all feeling bizarrely positive. When we took a 5-1 in heat 13 from Nemecek and Bedford thoughts were they could repeat this in heat 15 so were hoping for a shared heat 14 at least. As it was Ostenstad and Rumsey banged in another 5-1 to pull the scores level. Rumsey particularly producing an excellent ride to keep Hill and debutant Wasserman at bay. So to heat 15 and an excellent gate by Bedford saw him race away with the other 3 scrapping behind him. Unfortunately Nemecek tried too hard and overcooked it on bend 2 of the 2nd lap and was excluded from the re-run. The Wanderer's pair of Dvoynev and Fekete were again outgated by Bedford and the points were shared. Congratulations must go to Wednesfield for their efforts in an excellent meeting enjoyed by a good crowd of over 2000. Again Steve Morgan has pulled of a coup in signing Wasserman at reserve so again I expect them to rise up the table in the middle part of the season until, like Fekete last season, Wasserman has to move into the main body of the team where things will be much harder for him. For us all the guys battled hard although the form of Ulabek is very disappointing.
Moving onto other matters some of our team were in GP qualifying action this week. Bedford made the British Final as he usually does although there was disappointment for Ray France. He just could not find enough speed in his round and fell outside the top 8. Things took a turn for the better though when he was handed a wild card spot for the Final. I'm sure he will grab his second chance with both hands. Our asset Jamie Vaughan also qualified for the Final. Anothe asset Braxton McChesney has made the Americas Final but there was disappointment for Ostenstad who failed to make the Scandinavian Final. Finally Nemecek made it through his semi-final to reach the European Final.
