For the first time this season the Cats have been bested on aggregate, and denied the bonus point that comes with it, going down to Sheffield Dons by 52 points to 38, and going down by 4 on aggregate. "We were in a strong position after the first leg, but Sheffield had a hell of a second leg. We didn't help our own cause really, but they did what needed to be done, and massive credit to them for that. Perhaps I made the wrong call on the guest, opting for the recently dropped Luke Treadwell, I felt he was unlucky to be dropped, I thought he would be massively motivated, and I thought after his score of 13 in the KOC semi at Sheffield. I thought wrong, given the time of year it was like an early trick or treat, only we got the trick, and Sheffield got the trick. I thought i'd lined up Luke Treadwell to guest, but it was like a stranger in a mask.
Had Kryz (Boguslaw Kryznowek) not been injured he'd have bettered a paltry total of 2, but we can't do anything about it now, we can only move forward and focus on the next meeting, and the visit of Lanarkshire. I've called on the services of former Cat Liam Reay again to deputise for Kryznowek, and we have a big task ahead of us, Lanarkshire are strong, and their top 3 are as good as they come, really. We have a 6 point deficit to make up for the bonus too, and we need to look to pick that up, but we need the win first and foremost.
This week also saw the UL Riders Championship, which Kryznowek unfortunately also missed, with Maciej Tercjak our only representation. Maciej has had a hell of a season, and he had a great chance, he's now top 5 in this league, and 5 is the number on everyone's lips, as it was Maciej's points total, and one he was bitterly disappointed with, i've challenged him to put the anger into the league, we need the very best Maciej Tercjak that we can get on track right now. Boguslaw was gutted at the timing of his injury and having to miss out on this championship, he would certainly have been in the mix but his recovery is progressing well and he should be back with us in a couple of weeks. In the meantime he has been helping out the guys in the pits, passing on valuable knowledge and experience, and it speaks volumes of the man he is, we are delighted he's a Cat.
