Teesside lost a run off for the UL KO Cup as their two legged clash with Milton Keynes Cats ended all square.
Teesside won the first leg 48-42 before losing the second 47-41, which only came after they conceded a 5-1 in the final heat.
With the scores level, that meant a race-off between Boguslaw Kryznowek and Hans E Bergestol with the Pole taking the chequered flag.
Team boss Graeme Bailey was full of praise for his side and said: "It was a great match-up, with two great clashes. I think we thought we had done it going into the last heat but they are a top side who battled and then the run-off, it was just luck of the draw they were at home as you will always fancy the home team in a match-race.
"But on to next week, we are expecting our biggest crowd ever at the Dock Yard to hopefully see a bit of history, no matter what it should be the meeting of the year and is a great way for the UL to finish in this manner."
