Numerous Terriors took part in the first event of the World Cup and U21 World cup, and here is where we catch up with their performances:
Seniors
Event 1 - Group A
2. Gabrys Irzyk.............. 1 2 1 1 3 8
A solid performance from Gabrys in his first World Cup, ending with a win over Liam Reay, as well as picking up a solid win over Hayden Wood. Gabrys showed he really belongs on the World Cup scene, and will be looking to push on next season to prove himself on a World stage.
Event 1 - Group B
2. Olle Bjorn Thoresen....... 3 2 3 1 3 12
1. Ryan Irwin................ 2 2 2 0 2 8
Mixed fortunes for the 2 riders on loan to the Terriors last season. Olle showed he is a prodigious talent with a fantastic 12 points as he helped the combined Finland/Norway team to the race off, where he will face Gabrys Irzyks Poland.
Ryan Irwin on the other hand had a solid performance, showing he can still be a force on the World stage, but it wasn't enough to stop Australia from finishing last in a strong group.
Event 1 - Group C
1. Henrik Hansen............. 1 3 2 3 0 9
A solid score from Henrik, including 2 good heat wins, was enough to help Denmark through to the race off as the best third placed team. A solid performance and he is beginning to show why we spent good money over the Summer to bring him in on a full contract.
Under 21s
Event 1 - Group A
2. Enzo Innacone............. 3 1 1 2 1 8
Showing the form that he had to end the season, Enzo showed why he is considered a bright prospect with a solid 8 points, including a win over Polish sensation Kamil Ulabek. A good showing from Enzo shows why we want to bring him back next season, and helped West Europe to the race off.
Event 1 - Group C
2. Kai Mungall............... 0 1 1 3 - 5
A performance that I know Kai was disappointed in. When I spoke to him he talked of the step up to the World u21 level, and how it took him until his final heat to get his bike to where he wanted. Still, a good win in his final race showed he has talent, but wasn't enough to stop the Celtic Nations crashing out.
