Wednesfield Wanderers, sponsored by Welding Services for the 5th season, finalised their team plans by bringing in Russian starlet Boris Dvoynev.
Boris, 24, ended the season with a League Winners medal with Moscow Moths in Euro league 1 and was narrowly pipped to the top spot in the averages. His double digit scores week in week out, certainly attracted the attention of the Wednesfield management.
Steve Morgan added, "This is a real coup for the Club. Boris comes in off the back of a really successful season with Moscow Moths where they ended up winning the League Title, a lot of this being down to Boris's near 10 point average. The boy knows how to win speedway races, doing so riding at number 1 and although he did not quite make it out of the Grand Prix Challenge Final, that experience on the World stage will stand him in great stead and he is even more determined to make the GP's in the future. In truth, I'm glad he didn't, as he wouldprobably not have ended up in the PL, and would no doubt have made the UL manager's take notice!!!! But he is our asset now, and we are delighted to have him at the Kingo....."
Morgan's septet has been well crafted, where it looks as though there will be plenty of movement through the GSA average changes. Morgan added, "to have 2 quality PL performers in Stemme and Nysted at reserve gives us real depth at the start of the season. As I have said before, these boys were 8 and 7 point riders 2 years ago, and both will be looking at erasing last years disappointments in the UL and getting back on track winning races. We have a solid body to the team with Captain Phil Hayes and Jamie Vaughan adding valuable experience alongside youngsters Sarjale and Goess. I'm getting excited with this team just talking about them, and I feel there are no weaknesses within it and feel we have a great chance in the Title race this season. But first, I have the WTC final to prepare for where I can lock horns against Boris for the last time!!!!"
Steve Morgan was also quick to point out that his young asset Ricky Ede was still looking for a ride this coming season. Morgan said, "Ricky spent quite a bit of money last season and only ended up guesting once, scoring 5 points and winning a race in the meeting!!! He is itching for some racing, is really prepared for it and wants a chance. I cant believe he will end up going 2 seasons without securing a place, so to any AL managers out there, give this kid a chance!!!"
