Shock in the first semi final as one of perennial pre-tournament favourites England bomb out. They were unable to face up to the power of the Polish and Russian sides (and New Zealand), but you just can't plan for the UL & World number 3 Hayden Wood to fall twice and run a last. The Polish side may have the big names but the Norwegian side is a solid team packed with power. New Zealand manage a creditable third, probably in a big part through surprisingly poor performances from Chong and Laing. English Fans will just be wondering what could have been had Ultimate League Riders champion and UL Winner Steve Edgar been given the nod in the quartet, or even the talismanic two time world champion Liam Reay.

In the second Semi Final a to and fro battle between USA and Czech Republic could only be settled by a run-off, with the USA finishing top. Russia started strong but tailed off dramatically in the last batch of races, with a starring role being played by Czech reserve Hynek Kosciuch. Belgium had made it further than expected, and have finished this semi final where more would have predicted, but credit to them for making it this far in the tournament.
Next up is the big one, the WTC final. Norway, Poland, USA & Czech Republic will come to the tapes, who will win the gold?
