The excitement is building in Wantage as the Kings prepare to venture into the unknown and the Ultimate League.
It's been a rapid ascent to the top level, with success galore on the way and boss Craig Richardson is confident he's built a side to both compete and excite the fans. "This time of the season is always manic and you never know how it will pan out. I always try and make sure I have contingency plans, and contingency plans for my contingency plans. But 5 minutes into team building it all changes!
We are very happy with our final line up. Ideally we would have liked a stronger British element, but you just have to go with what is practical.
Our team will one up as follows...
1 Jonus Sandin.
He joins us via Midlothian as part of the league reshuffle. An absolute legend of the sport. His signing caused waves of excitement in the town and the club have already been inundated with requests for Jonus merchandise. He's number 4 in the world and the perfect number 1 for us.
2 Lars Meldgaard
3rd season for us and captain once again, Lars was really keen to come back, and we would always have him. Top of the PL averages last season he can still make a mark ath this level.
3 Joe Finch
another rider in his 3rd season, Joe has proved immeasurably since joining us. We have no doubt he will become a big rider in this league and he will continue to excite fans around the country.
4 Fillipe Chong
Only 18 with the world at his feet, Fillipe was our first target. I know him from previous international duties he is improving at a frightening rate. He joined Stockholm late in the season last year and scored heavily from the start. A world under 21 finalist he is one to watch this year.
5 Lennart Levin
Top of the Euro League 1 averages last year and a regular on the international scene, Lennart is another who will be looking to make a big splash in the UL. Delighted to be riding in the same side as Jonus Sandin, we're delighted to have him!
6 Lahti Rytenen
Another 18 year old Lahti rode for Ljublana in Euro League 2 last year and is another rider improving quickly. We hope with the right support he will settle in very quickly for us.
7 Jason Isaacs
Jason is a rider we tried to sign last year and missed out on, so it's good to get him this year. He wasn't really looking at the UL but we've convinced him he has plenty to offer at this level.
All in all we have a great blend of youth and experience and a team we hope will be successful this season!
