Week 15
Attendances
EL - 1234 bumped into each other at Bowmount Park as Tweedside Tigers beat the visiting Richmond Cheetahs 47-42. Both sides are locked in a dogfight @ the base of the Evolution League and it was a good tidy contest. Twice the hosts led by 8 points but the Cheetahs rallied and managed to secure the Bonus Point that could prove crucial. Richmond's George Lomas bowed out the team with 4 from 3 as he was released after the meeting.
PL - 1198 attended matters at the Aerie Arena to watch the home Hampden Eagles beat Leyton Rockets convincingly in a 54-36 scoreline, taking the bonus point into the bargain. Tristram Bonham-Wells was imperious for Hampden though it was their solid top five points effort combined that did the damage, proving too strong for the travelling Rockets, who's only real resistance came from Rickie Keyse with 11 (6) and Ove Hydling at No.7, who grabbed 9 (4) - though it's puzzling the talented Swede wasn't handed more track time.
UL - 2349 - ganged up at the Grovedale as the hosting Cats from Milton Keynes once again drew in the biggest crowd of the day. Given the entertainment that ensued, it's probably not a surprise they pack them in round here. The home fans were rewarded with a tight 49-40 over the visiting Wolston Wolves. who narrowly missed out on the BP (90-89). The Cats just proving too strong for the top heavy Wolves on the day.
Away Wins
Whitby Vampires lost at home to Sheffield Dons, who kept their promotion hopes alive by taking all the available points back to the Steel City with a solid team effort on the road - Whitby 44 (79) Sheffield 46 (100)
The hapless Hawks from Harlow lost at home again and remain rooted to the bottom of the table - their slump showing no signs of subsiding as they lost 40 - 50 (83-97) to Wandsworth Rams. The hosts provided only 5 race winners all meeting and the Rams had Eddie Mabo on form with 14 (5) points and also had a top day in the No.6 race jacket from Arnor Arnarson, who's 5 rides yielded 10+1, his only blip was running last in Heat 9.
Maximums
Brage Moller-Bech (Chantry Crusaders) - 15 (5) - continued his rich vein of form as the Crusaders' 5-40 win over Estuary Whales consolidated their position at the summit of the EL
Andrew Williamson (Tweedside Tigers) - 15 (5) - in the Tigers' win over Richmond
Tritsan Bonham-Wells (Hampden Eagles) - 15 (5) - Classy performance from the Brit in a comfortable Home win
