Week 17
EL – 1062 Filed into The Factory to feast their eyes on home side Birmingham Bournevillains take on the visiting Chantry Crusaders. The Bournevillains ran out 51-39 winners and also grabbed the important bonus point (92-88) seeing the Midlanders leap-frog their visitors to take over at the top of the table. Off nights for the usually reliable Jacques Moursin and Greg Kvaternik certainly didn’t help the the visiting side, whilst 6 of the 7 Brummies won at least one race.
PL – 1220 Attended proceedings at the Aerie Arena as Hampden Eagles took on the travelling Tilbury Dockers. The Londoners long journey was rewarded as they secured a 45-45 draw and also took the Bonus Point back to the Capital. The meeting swung both ways and it was the Erik Bjork / Jakub Majewski duo who proved instrumental in the latter heats for the Dockers, though they were ably supported by Mattias Hagerstrom at reserve with 11+1 from his 5 rides as they held the solid scoring hosts.
EL – 2150 Dared to dream at Workington’s Derwent Bowl, the hosting Logheads comprehensively beat the visiting Bottesford Bullets, exacting revenge for their Knockout Cup loss to the same visitors. The Bullets tracked Andre Wyer as a guest for the injured Steve Conway at 7, with Wyer scoring a credible 4 points. Workington though had too much in almost every department and never looked in danger of allowing the Lincs side to spring another upset.
AWAYS
Charlemont Chargers 43 (86) Estaury Whales 45 (92) – Close entertaining meeting throughout but a Heat 13 2-4 from new signing Michael Plant and Jordan Osgood followed by a 1-5 in the next Heat from Marko Mujanovic and Dmitrij O’Shea tipped the balance of the meeting in the favour of the visiting Whales.
Harlow Hawks 41 (83) Whitby 48 (96) – Despite the heroics of Julien Comparin, who scored 14 from his 6 rides, and John Bowen, 11 from 5, the Hawks again crashed at home as their miserable run continues.
