Well the side to try and keep the trophy is complete and we knew we couldn't keep the title winning 7. JC was shocked that Marek wanted to move on after the Gems brought him over from Poland and following his WTC performance, but that's speedway, we will keep Marek as an asset and hopefully he will get a team berth.
Dennis Groves is somewhat a mystery twice now Gems have given him a chance when he was left on the transfer list this season he got back to his best and off he goes again?.
Scott, Denis, Darren & Hakon stay and we welcome Otto as third heat leader, we used the NSSPA scouting network, on the reports on him we altered our team plans as he really is a rider in a hurry to be the best, our other 2 new riders are a Swede and our second Russian. Sebastian is a young Swede only 19 with loads of potential and comes in on a 3.29 average joining at reserve is Gennady Denis (the mad monk) father knows Gennady and is helping him settle and has 3.56 average again only 20.
Both lads have no pressure on them for now the pressure will come from them to succeed we expect improvements from both once they settle.
Scott will lead the side again.

Second week of pre season meetings over and the side is settling in nicely, Scott, Denis and Darren have continued their WTC form scoring well, Darren especially is doing well.
Our three newbies also also have done well and team spirit is building each day, Hakon is riding at 2 this season and we know he will be ok once his set up is right.
All in all JC and coach Allan Edwards are happy.

JC was quick to contact H Q and declare same again for the Gems. He believes his two young reserves will come good and improve, Coach Edwards is spending time with both lads to improve their gating and set ups for different tracks.
otto is giving his best and needs to use his untapped skills to win races and not just tear around the boards .
Darren has done really well riding at 3.

The Gems have been allocated a group meeting in the 3TT Tournament by the NSSPA for the new Evolution League. JC said " It's great to hold. NSSPA event and put speedway in Wales on the National stage".
With the Gems taking part also on Wednesday at the home of Falmouth in the UL event Coach Allan Edwards and Skipper Scott Bridges will look after the 5 Gems lads as JC looks after things at the West Coast Arena.

Denis Gomozov again showed his talent, following a Second in the Finish/Norway GP he got a second podium place finish third in the European GP . Outstanding riding from Denis all we need now is the same in the UL. He is turning out to be a great Gems rider.

In the second round of GSA out this week JC has quickly declared the Gems as we are, with the 3 GP lads hitting a rich vein of form ( Scott, Denis and Otto) back up by Darren & Hakon, why change it, some may say the gamble with the two inexperienced reserves hasn't helped and the Gems might have changed them but there commitment and willingness to learn will reap rewards, if not fully in this season.

What a night for Gems travelling fans who attended the British GP round with there two stars Denis and Scott taking 1st and 2nd places on the night. It's was a great night for both riders and the club Denis winning and now in 3rd place overall and Scott now back in contention to automatically qualify for next years event. taking 2nd spot.
People watching could have thought it was heat 15 and the pair were team riding but Scott did need the extra point to move into 8th place overall.
Great night for both Denis and Scott, we are proud of you both real Gems !!!!
To add to Scott week he has just been told of his inclusion into the Sim Speedway Hall of Fame, big well done Scott richly deserved.

As the Gems keep in the title race to win back to back titles they thank Liam from Tilbury for the loan of Dominik Witzosek as reserve guest for the injured Seb in our remaining meetings Dominik has shone for the Dockers in the EL and we are more than happy to give him a chance in the UL.
JC said " to win back to back titles in a tough league is testament to the riders and coach Edwards, Scott has lead from the front and Denis is now following his GP round success. a force riding at 5."

What a night in Sweden, for the small band of Gems supporters who travelled to watch the GP and their heroes Scott Bridges and Denis Gomozov the Gems pair set the place alight with Scott winning and Denis coming second the final was a right real scrap as the pair went for the win. The celebration on there lap of honour was great to see as the rode around with arms around each other's shoulders. There pit crews and Gems coach Allan Edwards rushed out to give both the traditional bumps and even JC was in on the act.
great night and well done to both,

Here we are again, in with a shout of the title sitting in second place we are not the favourites to clinch it on paper but it was the same last season. We go into our last meeting away and only 1 point advantage, but we love a challenge.
