Week 3
EL – A record 1131 bundled into the Barracks Boulevard and witnessed the hosts, Aldershot
Apaches, record their first ever league victory as they triumphed 49-41 over their visitors, Leyton Rockets. New signing Vadim Lebedev made an instant impact on his debut scoring 11 from his 5 rides and taking two race wins - the visiting Rockets fought hard and kept the Hampshire team honest to the last.
PL – 1587 vied for position at the Viking Arena, where Foxhall and the visiting Newmarket Raiders shared the spoils 45-45. This was a highly entertaining meeting with some great individual and team efforts along the way. The Vikings thought they had nudged ahead with 12th heat 5-1 but Darcy Broad, showing a return to form after last seasons horrific injury, and young reserve Tommy Barnes hit back with their own 1-5 in Heat 14 for the Raiders to level it up again before the shared final race shared it all.
UL – 2373 stood together at Smallmead where the home side Reading Rebels had a comfortable 50-40 win over the travelling Wantage Kings. That said the Kings kept it tight as 6 shared heats saw the scores at 18-18 before the Rebels roused and pulled away, the Boyd Beaton/Rafal Aranowski pairing proving a trump card for the hosts.
AWAYS
Canvey Island Castaways 43 Milton Keynes Cats 47 - The Cats produced a vintage performance on their travels to the Isle and, despite their loss of Gennady Baranov late on, the Cats saw it through. The Cats edged ahead 15-21 and despite the Castaways coming back at them, held firm. Furher heat victories in heats 10 & 11 saw the visiting team home. An off night for Canvey's Number 1 Jacek Klecha and fellow Heat Leader Zeljko Lesnik didn't help but the Cats' strength in depth proved telling, Riley Payne continued his bright start, backing up the main man Boguslaw Kryznowek again. Payne is proving a real filip at reserve for the MKC.
Maximums
Teodor Patocka - (Lanarkshire Lions) 15 (5) - Another faultless performance by the Czech star in the Lions' 48-42 home win over Blunsdon as his blistering start to 2020 continues.
Tyrone York - (Whitby Vampires) 14+1 (5) - Ty was ably supported by Robert Mountford (14) inthe Vampires 48-42 home victory over the East London Renegades, for whom, Szymon Mazur had a busy debut at reserve scoring paid 8 from a full house of rides.
Tibor Nemecek - (Necrons) 15 (5) - Czech GP legend Nemecek proved his pedigree is still potent as the on-loan star stamped his authority on the fixture and, in doing so, helped the Necrons to an important away point.
Injuries
Gennady Baranov - (Milton Keynes Cats) - The Belarusian dislocated his shoulder in a nasty Heat 14 fall and will be out for 3 weeks
That's Yer lot for this week folks - stay safe
