Week 7
EL – 1183 mullered it at the Megano where da big bossman's Estuary Whales put paid to their visitors from Stowmarket - Estuary Whales 51 Stowmarket Scorpions 39 - The El newcomers were scuppered on their virgin visit to the Megano with every home rider being at least paid for a race win, on wat turned out to be a relatively comfortable evenings racing for the Southerners,
PL – 1673 rallied to the Raiders Dome to watch their team Newmarket take on the re-ignited Kings Lynne Lightning. Raiders own Frankie young continued his rampage through the race cards as he led his team to a valuable win over the Norfolk visitors. Lightning lost Kenneth Krogh to an eye injury and this dented their hopes somewhat, after a promising opening salvo saw them 8-16 up, however the remaining six pushed the Raiders all the way, and it was the home side that ran out eventual 47-43 winners.
UL – 2213 gathered at Grovedale where MK Cats hosted struggling Wolston Warriors and the Cats ran out 52-38 winners. MK's new boy Marcus Jay was an instant hit and reminded British speedway what they have been missing, it's a huge surprise that no-one took a punt on Marcus as both he and Frankie Young were the hottest prospects at the start of the season. Fair play Milton Keynes they needed a spark and they sure seem to have found it. Jay's opening meeting and soild scoring down the spine saw the Cats home in some style. Wolston though will bounce back as I type they are making big changes.
AWAYS
Blunsdon Bombers 42 - Hampden Eagles 48 - The Eagles seem to have found some wind at last as they matched Blunsdon stride for stride before pulling away with two big heat advantages either side of a shared Heat 14 to take the points back to Bonnie Scotland. They had Lorenzo Turati and Tristan Bonham-Wells in good form but their was ample depth to see off the Bombers, who need a spark of their own to get them going.
Reading Rebels 44 Workington Logheads 46 - A well fought away win saw the Cumbrians leap frog Reading and push them ominously into the top three, as the defending champs circle on the top echelons once again. In truth Workington just had too much depth in their scoring and deserved their win coming from 40-38 down to nudge over the line with 4-2s in the last two races.
Maximums
Frankie Young (Newmarket Raiders) 15 (5) - Frankie's big scoring continued as he inspired the Raiders to a home victory of the Kings Lynn Lightning
Lorenzo Turati - (Hampden Eagles) 15 (5) - The Italian stallion is in hte form of his life an was unstoppable in the Eagles win at bottom placed Blunsdon.
Marcus Jay (Milton Keynes cats) 15 (5) - MJ comes back to thrill as he returns with a classy big one to put a statement on his belated start in the UK. Many a team manager will be regretting letting him slip away now for sure.
Injuries
Kenneth Krogh (Kings Lynn Lightning) - serious eye injury in a nasty crash - misses 6 weeks
Jay Patterson (Necrons) - Bruised back will keep Jay off the bike for 3 weeks
That's Yer lot for this week folks - stay safe
