Week 12
EL – 1197 - Met up at The Megano where home side Estuary Whales beat near rivals East London Renegades 49-41, but the visitors took the all important Bonus Point back to Leven Road.
The Whales will get the London Derby bragging rights though, with young reserve, Toby Squires, the pick of the Whales riders with 11+1 from his 5 rides, a fine performance from the 16 yr old Brit, he stood out from a pretty solid team effort. The Renegades bounced back from 10 points down and had Henry Valentine (13+1) and Rhett Hodge (14+2) to thank for the bulk of their scoring at the Megano.
PL – 1725 gathered at the Glaven Arena to goggle at the track action. Hosting Kings Lynn despatched the travelling Chantry Crusaders 47-43 in a tight meeting with some good racing throughout. The PL powerhouses clashed in style and ramped up the entertainment value for the fans. Lynn started with a big home 5-1 from the guesting Hayden Wood (in for the injured Kenneth Krogh) and Dean Underwood in the meeting opener, but 6 heats later Chantry had clawed it back to 22-20. A KL purple patch then pushed the hosts 14 pts clear before Chamtry hit back in style to get within two points and secure the Bonus Point. Cracking speedway!
UL – 2454 Packed Priory Park to watch the much anticipated Humber Derby. Hull fans were expectant but it was the travelling masses who went home happier of the two sets of supporters as Hull Vikings lost out 42-48 to the Bottesford Bullets, who took the spoils back to the South Bank, as they also bagged the BP, with their impressive win. The Bullets were rampant and took the bragging rights with a top effort from Petr Marko (14+1) and the other 4 of their top 5 who all returned at least one win each. Hull's scoring largely came from Louis Joosens (12+1) and Gote Nordvall (10+3) as their combined return was more than half of the home side's total on the night.
AWAYS
PL - Aldershot Apaches 43 (86) Stowmarket Scorpions 47 (94) - The Scorpions' depth proved the undoing as the 'Shots lost again in a dismal season so far for the new boys. The defeat saw the Apaches drop to the foot of the table and the loss of reserve Lance Geran, didn't help, but the Scorpions were good value for their win and worthy victors as they led throughout.-
UL - Hull Vikings 42 Bottesford Bullets 48 (85-95) - Hull were left reeling as the Bullets stormed to the summit of the UL with a solid victory on the road - details above
