The STONE CROSS STARS held their behind closed doors practice match tonight against the TIMISOARA INDIANS from Romania. Really hot weather meant the track was difficult to prepare but the racing was superb. It was thought the Indians would be no match for the STARS but once they had had one ride , their bikes were set up well. STARS won the match 53-37 which included magical five ride maximum for Ben Harris and Craig Howland scored well from reserve. Riding against his old team, Stefan Botezatu was keen to show his old mates how to ride the Peelings Lane track and scored an impressive 10 points. Indians top rider, 18 yr old Chowchescoo was given 7 rides and scored 15 points, and may only be a matter of time until we see him in SIM speedway. The track stayed good all evening and the sponsors enjoyed the hospitality at the top class bar and restaurant. No pictures will be published of the evening as the meeting was not sanctioned by NSSPA, (THEY CAN BE A FUNNY OLD LOT), so you will just have to take my word for it. The STARS are out to win the league, Ben Harris WILL win the Riders Championship and Marcus Jay will finish in the top two in the JJ. The club are expecting a full house for the visit of Hailsham for the first pre season meeting, tanks and armoured vehicles have been booked to ferry Stars fans to Hailsham for the return. BEWARE WHEN YOU ENTER THE WOODS
