Wednesfield Wanderers sponsored by Welding Services for a 5th consecutive year, will be looking at gaining a promotion place this season with what looks like their most exciting PL team assembled by manager Steve Morgan.
With the re-signing of Captain Phil Hayes and last year debutant Janne Sarjale, Morgan had 2 club assets in the bag. He then followed that up with PL heat leaders Kristian Stemme and Jon Nysted, who both performed at reserve in the UL last season. Stemme came as an asset, Nysted on loan. Another loanee was Jamie Vaughan, also from Nysted's parent club, Kings Lynn.
With Dylan Goess making his return to the Kingo after a successful stint last season as an asset to the club as well, the team was finally completed with Russian sensation Boris Dvoynev making his move from Euro League 1 winners Moscow Moths, also as a Kingo asset.
Morgan said at the Press and Practice Day, "I'm really pleased with the blend and balance in this group. They all look really sharp and keen to get on with things, individually and collectively, and I have no fears for anyone. We look really strong from top to bottom, and if you look at the bottom, Kristian and Jon are both proven heat leaders in the Power League. It is only due to them riding last year in the UL and having to scrap for points week in week out is why their averages are so low, and that has given me the chance to start them in reserve berths. When I had Jon ride for me 2 years ago, I thought he would look beaten up when he arrived today, but he had that glint in his eye and his confidence doesn't seem affected at all..! Kristian is a rider I tried to sign last season but I was unable too, as his club he had got promoted wanted him to step up and he struggled, but he scores well everywhere he went in that title winning side. Janne and Dylan are young boys and did really well for us last season. I'm expecting bigger things from both and feel they are capable of adding a point onto their average, which has to be the target for them. Jamie Vaughan brings a wealth of experience at the age of 25!!! He will form a strong middle order in the engine room of the team with Phil Hayes, who does a great job off the track as well as on it. And leaves me to introduce the Russian sensation Boris Dvoynev. He won a league winners medal last year and was unlucky not to et in the GP's. This kid is hungry. He reminds me a lot of Maik Frandheim who rode for us in our first PL season. He has the right temperament, attitude, great machinery and a great back room team. I'm rejuvenated after a short break after the WTC and we are raring to go in our 2 Pre-season meetings and then against MK Cats in the KO Cup....we need the fans to come and support us and make the 8th rider!!!!"
