Practice day
Unbeknown to most people there was a practice morning at the home of the Glastonbury Gunners, all the riders were there and a few fans who stopped off while on their way to Cardiff.
We started early and first out was the Capt. Greg Woodcroft, a few practice starts on the back straight he looked fast and did 4 laps straight off
Came back to the pits and said the track was great, no hole, no ruts and he thought that the place to ride was mid track, later in the day Greg had another few laps.
Next out was our new signing Pat Landis who had never seen the track; he took his time doing a couple of slow laps and then some starts, then 4 laps from the tapes. Everyone was watching as Pat reeled off the laps riding to the inside, mid track , someone said that he thought it was very fast .When Pat came back to the pits, he said that the track was tops
Our new kiwi Colin Adlington was next out he was another rider who had not seen the track before, so after a few laps, he started doing 4 laps
Boguslaw Kryznowek went out on to the track and after some starts reeled off 4 laps in double quick time
Gavin Humberson making a come back to the Gunners was looking a little unsteady as he did his 4 laps and at one point almost came off but he stayed on the bike and finished the lap and came back to the pits, looking a bit white in the face.
Tony Clipstone was as smooth as silk again doing some practice starts on the back straight and taking his time to the tapes rolled of 4 laps, Tony’s mechanic was timing him and there was a time for 4 laps was 57.00 seconds, if this was right then Tony broke the track record by 3 seconds. (60.31 was the track record)
Rhett Hodge was the last rider out, he did the same as the others and did starts on the back straight, he came back to the pits for some adjustment to the clutch plates and the took off again, he done his 4 laps a nice easy style. He was happy when he got back to the pits.
Later the riders went out onto the track in pairs to see if the pairing rode well together. Afterwards they all packed up and put the bikes in the workshop and went off to Cardiff for the GP.
The day went well all riders were happy with the way things went at practice and now looking forward to the new SIM season.
