Wednesfield Wanderers, sponsored by Welding Services, kicked off their pre season fixtures with a heavy defeat at Thornaby (53-36) and a narrow home win (46-44) against the same opponents. Apart from an aggregate loss, Morgan didn't seem best pleased when speaking at the Kingo after the 30 heat meeting. He said, "Boris looked superb and he was ably supported by Jamie Vaughan, and these 2 look like being a great top 2 duo who will be in heat 15 most weeks. Outside of these, I'm struggling with what to say. I didn't expect to see my 2 reserves being outscored by twice as much as the Thornaby reserves. I thought their confidence was recovered, but when the heats started, they are still a little bit away from 8 and 9 points a meeting, but they will get there, well, they need to get there!!!! Dylan really struggled with his machinery and 1 point out of 8 rides, is not a true representation of his ability. In the engine room, Phil and Janne looked tidy at home, but were not so good away, and it is away where we have struggled over the last 3 years. Still, I am optimistic, and feel confident we will get there in the next week or so. Steve Morgan Wednesfield & England Manager
