West wood saw off the Stars thanks to a great home leg, in their pre-season Challenge matches. Stone Cross led by 5 points after the 1st leg thanks largely to their Heat Leader trio of Harris, Ross and Botezatu. The margin could have been much bigger but for the fine form of the Wizards reserve combination of Carlos Goody and Donnie Reeves.
The 2nd Leg started with an exchange of 5-1s with the Wizards reeling from their reserves trailing in 3rd & 4th in Heat 2! However, they picked themselves up and the Stars reserves only picked up 1 more point between them for the rest of the meeting. Linus Cedergren was outstanding on the night and he was well backed up by the rest of the team. The turning point came in Heats 8 & 9 with the Wizards already 10 points up on the night the Stars would have used a Tactical Substitute, but with all riders taking their programmed rides the home team produced two more 5-1s. In the end Westwood triumphed overall by 9 points.
This was a good boost to the team's morale as the real stuff starts for us in the next week with a k.O. cup encounter with the Dragons!
