We will all hopefully by now have seen the letter of intent by our erstwhile stalwart SIM principals to hang up their NSSPA executive caps.
My first comment, therefore, is to give a hearty and unreserved thanks to Fred and Robert for the amazing job they have done to keep SIM going over the years. They have been wonderfully supported by others on the NSSPA, as they mentioned, but without Fred and Robert we would not be 'talking' now had they not stepped forward in Alan's hour of need.
There seems to have been a bit of a silence since the announcement, so I just wanted to see what other managers feel about trying to keep SIM alive. Is there a general desire to keep the torch burning?
I personally think it would be sad for it all to come to an end. In fact it almost feels dishonourable to Fred, Robert and Alan's efforts to not find a way forward.
We clearly need folks who are willing and able to step forward. It may be that some have already reached out to Fred and Robert directly.
I'm certainly happy to help out where I can, but it would need to be part of a wider team.
What are other thoughts from the floor?
Cheers
Tim

As one of the earlys I want to throw my hat into the ring but I have some reservations as I'm a house hubbie so I have some time on my hands but I want to know how much time it'll take up. Since most of my evenings are filled with kids to bed and chores this would be the time that I'd get most work done.

Tim I have had a few responses, really just thanking us.which is appreciated. You already have a big asset moving forward in Andy who has stated he will continue if Sim does. He takes responsibility for rider longlists, the seasonal rider editors (as team build we write up the sheets and Andy uploads the numbers, he also runs world and Euro league, in season Andy uploads the league tables and the averages to be uploaded to the website.and is always a shoulder to lean on. Rob has been so supportive and runs a well oiled Junior section. I will put together a list of things to do and send it out to managers who show an interest. Thanks

Terry Terry, as said pre-season is a busy time as are break weeks, in season depends on managers getting tactics uploaded sometimes you can be done by midday Monday, others still running meetings on Tuesday.

I not sure if i can help out much as my knowledge of computers is limited to say the least and only having and using a laptop not sure if it would be any good but I am hoping to get a computer in the not to distant future but i am willing to help out of i can if and when needed but even if this is not good enough I will as long as this site lasts want to be part of this site even if just a player I hope this can be resolved in some way or another. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make me go back to sitting there with my wife watching coronation street, East Enders and strictly come dancing and then worst of all talking about it afterwards save me from this eternal damnation if not never set foot on the hallowed ground of the Renegades at Leven Street or the wondrous stadium of the coolest team in speedway racing in the black and white the Canvey Island Castaways .

Fred,
We all really appreciate what you and guys have done over the years, as one who in a small way has helped previously. I would help again to keep the sim family going and help keep me sane for starters.
A list would be great so we can see what we can do going forward.

Firstly, Fred/Rob/Andy, thank you for all the hard work you have put in over the years. I remember being a part of the original sim, and finding a group of people who's ability to make believe feel real was wonderful. The fact you continued the hard work through everything is incredible, and I am glad that Tunstall were able to carve their name into the history books with a title win.
I think that this will probably be my last season with Sim. I am finding myself drifting further and further away from speedway in general. It's what happens when your team shuts down and the sport gets expensive! I have found my contributions to sim waning over the months and years, and unless a spark of effort hits me, I think it is best to let someone else take the reigns of a team.
Thank you for everything though. It's been a blast!
