With the new averages out the Gems are sticking with there current 1-7, speaking to Gems coach Allan Edwards he stated we are hoping Rokeberg will be back in week 17 as this week is a non riding week and we will only need a guest for week 16, we will stick with Adlington as he is showing improvements each week as the bike rustiness drops off.
Scott Bridges family is now settled in Wales and in recent track time Scott was flying.

Here we go again in the bottom two with the tail end of the season on us. The lads did really well at Lanarkshire gained the bonus but credit to the home side they pull it out of the fire with looking good for an away win, Nico was a great guest for us and we thank him and his club.
Everyone contributed in in the meeting, heat 13 did us a 5-1 to the home side pulled them back and for heat 15 gave the physiological edge.

Scott Bridges showed in the UL Riders Championship why JC rates him so highly by finishing in the runners up spot, Scott will say it's not been his best season but he did come good in the meeting and hopefully this will steer him on in the Gems remaining meetings.
More good news for our next meeting PL Riders Champion Joe Finch will guest for the injured Rokeberg.

He's in the groove Scott Bridges again leads from the front and leads the side to an away point and bonus, we have to mention Dennis Groves part in the result he supported Scott and going into heat 15 the boys needed a 5-1 to draw and did they do it wow a great team riding display to snatch the draw and bonus.
the mad monk Denis also supported well as did what many feel has been the signing of the season Hakon do from reserve. Great result lads.

What can you say what a week for Scott Bridges first a GP win then leads the team to a fantastic win away to title contenders the Panthers our friends clearly had red mist in there eyes.
the whole team chipped in to a great win massive well done lads.
It it shows how close the toughest speedway league the UL is two weeks ago we were one place of the relegation places now one point of top spot.
stressful or exciting !!!!!!

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW
the only Welsh Speedway Team ABERAVON GEMS are UL CHAMPIONS
This is a great night for Everyone linked to the club, riders, staff, supporters, the promotion.
JC has paid tribute to his riders and Coach Allan Edwards, it's a fantastic achievement for the club the UL is tough you only have to look at how close the points difference are and only 3 to 4 weeks ago we were 7th and close to being in the drop zone.
Many thought when JC did the deal which saw his talisman Carl Hooper leave, that was it as his replacement Scott Bridges by his own standards struggled and although a favourite of JC he did take time to settle. Then 4 wins and a draw in there last 5 meetings and 4 bonus points the Champagne corks popped.
Scott got his mojo back even won a GP round finished as runner up in riders championship and both our Dennises clicked with him which also helped the rest, Marek & Darren improved and supported well Hakon joined at the first average change and was fantastic we would thank NSSPA for there help in signing him he has put 2 points on his average and his enthusiasm rubbed of on everyone he took his chance with us and never let us down and is a firm favourite with everyone. Colin also joined and although his average slipped he never let us down and kept it above 3.00.
the local Mayor is arranging a civic reception for the riders and club for not only being Champions but putting Aberavon on a wider map.
Now for European success as we battle against Moscow, Gomozov is already planning sightseeing trips !! ABERAVON ARE UL CHAMPIONSHIP, and I'm not dreaming.

After the glory and joy which we will always saviour the realisation that a great bunch of Lads who got you it all will have to in some way be broken up.
Tough decisions to be made, not looking forward to that one!
