Two good efforts by the team against Wantage saw us take wins both home and away despite the aggregate scores being close. Martin Shaw lead the way at home with 14 and was well backed up by Jean-Marc Struthers and Peter Doyle. Indeed Struthers has ridden better than I have ever seen him during the pre-season matches. Hopefully he can keep it going into the season proper. Brad Easty had a nasty fall and withdrew from the meeting as a precaution. Still, this gave Doyle and Kenneth Krogh more rides which has to be a good thing.
In the away leg we got home by just a single point with Shaw and Struthers again riding well. Easty scored an encouraging 10 points and Erik Davidsson was steady throughout. Doyle had 2 good wins and Krogh was on the pace without scoring too many. We again had an injury as Kalle Mickelsen had to pull out of the meeting. That makes it 3 injuries in 4 matches!! I hope that doesn't carry on into the season or there will not be enough guests for us to use!!
Onto the KO Cup this week and a match up with Lanarkshire a team we have battled with in every league from the AL to the UL. We have also drawn them in the cup on more than one occasion................being beaten on more than one occasion! This season I reckon we can send the Lions out of the cup with their tails between their legs and progress into the 1st round. If the fans can come out in force and cheer the lads on as they did last season then I think they will perform for them reduce the Lion's roar to a distant whimper as they head back to Scotland.
