We had a good win over Midlothian this week without really looking like we would win the bonus point. The Panthers kept the match close and we managed to run out 4 point victors on the day. Jamie Vaughan was on fire from reserve scoring paid 15 from 6 rides. His workload has increased lately due to our injury problems with Halle Soderberg out for 6 weeks and Jean-Marc Struthers for 2 weeks. The only set back now is that Jamie will not be at reserve for the remainder of the season as Jean-Marc will drop down. I must thank our guest for the Midlothian match, Renato Conda, who rode superbly to score 8 points including a win in heat 12. He asked me to keep him in mind for next season as he is desperate to get back into British speedway.
As for the rest of the side, they were well lead by Martin Shaw who scored paid 14. Erik Davidsson was below his best only scoring 6 but I'm sure that is just a blip in his otherwise excellent season. Sam McCurdy was struggling but came up with a good win in heat 14 to combine with Jamie for a match winning 5-1. Jon Nysted is not setting the world alight but is learning all the time and quietly going about his business. Hopefully he will be able to kick on next season with the experience he is gaining.
Next match is at home to Tunstall and we will be looking to take all 3 points from the match to keep us on the tails of the league leaders. We will have to have a PL guest at reserve and I have yet to make the decision as to who that will be.
