The Whales preseason was a bittersweet happening, losses at home wins away, some indifferent performances as local rivals Tilbury impressed, next weeks opponents Newmarket come with street cred and the Mafioso Pizza sponsors send shivers up many a mans spine.
So we expect a tough baptism into the new Evolution league, Wayne Templeton believes in his team but knows a few are race rusty and may need more time, for us the Terry Rigby team are looking to be amonst the front runners this season and we need each and every rider to give that little bit more, they have ex UL star Jamie Morton in their ranks, whilst Estuary called back Craig Axentiff from rural NZ and the international scene, we feel the racing will be good but need the rub of the green to finish in the top half this season.

POOR START for the WHALES, RAIDERS LOOK good for the TITLE
25/07/2015 at THE MEGANO - ATTENDANCE 896 SIM SPEEDWAY 2015/16 - EVOLUTION LEAGUE
There was no room for the faint hearted as the Mafiosi Pizza boys came to town the freebies given out by the Fenmen prior to the meeting was only to serve as an embarrassment later as Big Tel's boys got to work on the Whales, it was only the middle heats that saw the Whales get back into the meeting and lead for a few heats, but in a match dominated by 5-1's or 1-5's, 9 in total and somehow going into the last heat level after an amazing meeting it was down to our no 1 Prusaczyk who missed the gate and was kept at the back by the experienced ex Flyer Jamie Morton who gave his new club an excellent away victory start in the Evolution League.
For the Whales Billington and Jessup were up for the fight, Prusaczyk was ok, Malenkov solid, Bienrovics got a paid win and a win before tumbling and now misses two meetings.
For the Raiders Conda was the standout rider, with good showings by Kerekes and Morton, but the young Welsh kid Hoskins looks a hot prospectand in Caffrey Scottish fans have something to look forward to, hence the title chances of the Raiders are high so far as this part of the UK are concerned

The WHALES take on old adversaries Rye Racers in a Megano showdown, Rye will be high in confidence after their good start last week, whilst the Whales go into the meeting with just 6 riders as Bienrovics suffered some bad bruising and is out for a couple of weeks.
Wayne Templeton had this to say "I remember back in the day Rye and Grays had close relationships sharing a DL team for a season, now though with the Whales destined to make their own history, Rye dropped down from the PL last season to join us in the exciting newly formed Evolution League and for sure want to etch their names on the trophy as the first winners".
Rye have a solid look, with Bialczak leading the team supported by the experienced Rupel, Buri looks a talent and Caspersen is a hot young property, Murray should do well at this level and Bouchard will grow in stature after winning the U/18 title last season, whilst Kydd is learning his way.
With rider replacement for Bienronics (from no 2) we look weak in heat 8 with both reserves out, but we have the fire power in our ranks to overcome this, so go get them WHALES!!!!!!

What a welcome a massive crowd an old adversaries Rye and chief Steve Mitchell in town.
We started the meeting without the injured Vadims Bienrovics and using rider replacement for him on the night.
Heat 1 saw loanee Sergei Malenkov jr in as the R/R after a superb gate he was never troubled as Bialczak kept fellow countryman Prusaczyk on his back wheel , but a positve start for the Whales, that lasted just one heat as U/18 champ Bouchard and Kydd outpaced Adamson and Jessup. On the night though Malenkov and Prusaczyk were up for the challenge and raced heat 15 with the meeting already won, but Bialczak came between them and us expanding our 8 point aggregate lead.
Both Billington and Axentiff look to be getting some form after time out of the saddle recently.
For Rye only Bialczak, Buri and Rupel proved worthy opponents.
Wayne Templeton was a little shocked at the ease of the victory, but was a very happy team manager tonight

Well the local showdown is on us we travel the short distance to Tilbury to take on a very strong team.
They have a strong top 4 with Akumbaev topping the charts, the son of ex Grays Flyer Frank, Bart Williamson averaging over 9 and Witoszek on 8.00 with Sean Russell on 6 points and getting into his season will be a hard nout to crack especially as we have lost Bienovics out injured so running with R/R here.
Billington is finding some form, Prusaczyk is up and down at the moment, Axentiff is getting back into it, but this meeting comes a little early for us, sure the fans will be in for a treat, you cannot beat the cut and thrust of a local derby to get the temperatures rising, lets look forward to a good night.

This local derby witnessed a real speedway fiesta as the fans joined with each other to enjoy a superb night (well for the Dockers perhaps) it was ironic that almost 1000 fans came and saw the Dockers grab local rights.
Akumbaev and Williamson (Bart that is, son of Frank an ex Grays racer) were top dogs, but the form of Polish reserve Zielinski helped the Dockers to dominate the meeting.
In response Malenkov jr and Axentiff both achieved double figures, from 7 and 6 rides, still without the injured Bionrovics, Prusaczyk down on power, Billington retiring in one heat all went against us.
Tonight though Tilbury is a proud town.

We were slow out of the blocks tonight, the Spitfires took full advantage over the first half of the meeting to lead by 12 points, Heat 8 and 9 5-1's saw us get back to a 4 point deficit.
Prusaczyk (11/6) and Malenkov jr (10+2/6) with support from Axentiff and Billington, whilst young Jessup upped his game after the intense coaching session which was pleasing, but Bienrovics looked out of salts and not quite over his injury in a scoreless night. Charlie Adamson doesn't look to have his heart in the sport just now and we will sit down with him and see what we need to do.
But for now its the Spitfires night, well done Mike and the boys.

Well in three home meetings two defeats manager Wayne Templeton has come under extreme pressure lately.
With no rider performing like an out and out number 1 is making things hard for the boss, this week though PP put in great effort but the more solid scoring team beat off our rag tag efforts.
Axentiff is still struggling with consistency, Billington is doing OK but no where near his anticipated average Malenkiov has come in and is holding his average, Bionrovics and Adamson have been a disaster, Youngster Jessup with the help of NSSPA coaching is coming good.
But not winning at home and sitting bottom of the league is frustrating for the Megano following. Tonight we were never in the meeting at home and using 3 taccy subs and still not catching up is very concerning, with the GSA changes coming up I am sure the cheque book will be out here on Thameside.
Take nothing from Bletchley thay have built a team of mostly expereienced guys with Fitch who is showing good form and Pullen who needs a visit to the NSSPA coaches to get his confidence back, the quiet persona of the Bengals manager is affecting the lad who needs an arm around his shoulder.

WERE THE WHALES CHEATED OUT OF A WIN
Jinky Baxter made a decision to field John Monk at 2 and it looks as though the 'cheat' paid off as he scored 11 points, 'whilst under the weather' Carl McKinlay was slipped into the reserve slot and scored 0/3 but had the good fortune to be replaced in heat 14 by the high scoring Hydling.
Manager Wayne Templeton advised he will be appealing as it was an illegal line up and the subsequent heat 14 change put Oglala back into the meeting

Arriving at the reservation we were keen to express ourselves as both clubs debuted two new riders each, on the night the Oglala lads Monk and Ledereq were very impressive with big scores, for the Whales though Tommy Frandsen showed good pace for a 7+1/4 return.
Lee Jessup enjoyed a 6 point return, whilst our other newbie Gheorge picked up a solitary point in 3 rides, Oglala's Hylling who dropped to reserve gives them strength down there as he rode to a big score.
We are very happy to pick up a point as we endeavour to get off the bottom of the league.

Racing out a draw in this local encounter was disappointing, but the Knights with three ex Megano based riders showed good resolve to match the Whales all the way.
Top Whale Prusaczyk missed out on a maximum with a heat 13 3rd place, Billington and Frandsen put in good effort, Gheorge getting paid 5 was pleasing but Jessup only picking 1 point hurt us, skipper Axentiff and Malenkov were a little disappointing with 6 points each.
For the Knights Thompson after a first hit fall / excluded scored 10/5, Mullarkey with paid 11 and 8 from Van Maurik and De Vaux, with ex Megan racers Campion and Smith both picking up 5 points, the draw was a fair result on the night.

03/10/2015 at THE MEGANO - ATTENDANCE 795 SIM SPEEDWAY 2015/16 - EVOLUTION LEAGUE -
Fred Taylor kept his riders in the changing rooms for over an hour after the meeting, the fan's anger is sifting through, but Taylor and Templeton remain positive, looking at riders faces when they left the room, you could sense the riot act had been read, Fred advised the waiting media there would be no comments about the outcome on track or in this room tonight, but what I can tell you is tomorrow I am on route to Europe and Wayne is going on a tour of the UK, new riders are high on our list.
One thing I will say if there is a cull our two latest signings will not be part of this.
