Teesside celebrated their return to the Ultimate League with victory as they claimed a 48-42 win over Wolston Warriors at the Dock Yard.
The Transporters never looked back from an opening heat 5-1, but they were never able to surge ahead despite winning 10 of the 15 heats.
The home fans welcomed back hero Hans E Bergestol and he did not disappoint dropping just one point on his way to paid 14.
Olle Bjorn Thoresen marked his return to Teesside colours in fine fettle with paid 10 and new boy Sven Svensson chalked up two wins to impress.
But perhaps the pick was 17-year-old American starlet Jack Hagen, and chief Graeme Bailey said: "Jack did what we are hoping he can do, he is a class act and I can't see a better reserve in the UL but he has to show he is ready and I am very confident he can.
"I was very pleased with the performance but I think we should have won by more, but the win was the main thing."
