In perhaps surprise news the MK Cats are making further changes to the team. "we're just not good enough, we deserve to be bottom, but I won't give up fighting, and to this end i'm making changes again. In some cases the changes are undeserved, riders will have to sit out primarily because others haven't done the job expected of them, others have the fault lying purely in their hands, they haven't performed as well as we expected or needed."
We might as well start with the decision likely to provoke the most furore. Boris Kravchuk was brought in at the start of the season as the envy of a number of other teams, after an explosive first season on these shores he has had a largely disappointing consolidatory season for the Cats. I managed to rejig my team a few weeks ago to get him down at reserve, but in his 3 meetings he's averaged just 5 at reserve. Unfortunately his time with us has to come to an end. We would like to wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season, and we hope he gets fixed up soon. He may well be worth a throw of the dice for someone, but the Cats have thrown this die too many times already.
Unfortunately 2 other Cats riders are going to have to make way also in order to make the changes we need, and we'd really rather keep them both, but the changes must be made.
Daniel Gold is one of them. He has performed well in his first season an PL level especially at home to Wantage, , but in order to bring in the top rider I have, small averages can sometimes make all the difference, and Daniel is a victim of circumstances. He understands our reasoning and is still very much a member of the Cats extended team, and this won't be the end of his Cats tale. I am very much intending on bringing him back next season.
The other victim is Hunter Nelson. Unfortunately I haven't been able to give him the time to adjust that I would like. He came into the team in order to drop Boris to reserve, and since slotting in at 2 he has averaged the same as him, 5. an impressive feat, and one I am thankful to him for but unfortunately his time with us has to come to an end, but I certainly hope to see him with us again in the future.
Onto the new faces, we needed a top rider and I certainly hope we've got that. Stig Gundersson has been a pretty solid 5-7 point man in the UL, and now he's joining us on 8.7. We are sure he's the top end strength with been lacking all season, and certainly since we lost Olejnik to injury.
The other 2 changes see a total of 3 new faces. Making his way over from Chantry on a free loan is Jason Perry, and he's being joined at reserve by Academy League riders Gustavo Goycochea and former Juvenile Jaunt Cat Kris Major. I'd like to sincerely thank the promoters at Workington, Chantry, Newmarket and Falmouth for helping us quickly make these changes happen.
Our new cats line up as follows:
Gustersson 8.7
Steve Edgar 6.69
Buck Bracey 7.86
Sergei Malenkov Jr 6.86
Stefan Zawadski 8.14
Perry 3.11
Major/Goycochea 3.56
We have 6 meetings left to save this season, every meeting counts, every point. Here we go Cats!
