Stone Cross Stars were knocked out of the cup by the expected winners Charlemont. When their top two riders start riding anywhere near their initial average , we are all in trouble.
BUT.
In the away leg, in heat 6, Ross How was well clear until someone in the crowd shone a red light, he slowed to a stop whilst the others kept going, the Stars where on for a 4-2 but conceded a 5-1. The referee was not interested in any protest and just waived the Stone Cross manager away with a reprimand for foul and abusive language, ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then in Heat, Stef had made the gate and was then bulldozed from behind by Johnstone, causing him to fall, he cleared the track, expecting a rerun and Johnstones exclusion, but the referee again let it continue. Manager Spencer again protested profusely but was this time banned from the pits, which was a bit stupid as it was heat 15 anyway. Spencer announced himself to TV Stone Cross " we were robbed by pathetic refereeing, we deserved a draw at Charlemont and they know it, how the referee managed to make such mistakes I don't know".
Then came the home leg, where once again, in Heat 12, young Craig, made the gate, but was squeezed dangerously against the back straight fence by Williams, Craig was lucky to stay on his bike, but trailed in last. Either the refereeing standard has to improve, or we will have to start "all in" speedway as well. So no cup run for the STARS, but two home fixtures on the trot next, which will certainly swell the bank balance and put 4 league points onto our total.
