Well since i've not been able to get to the computer I've decided to group our results together in this little report so here goes.
KO Cup 1st round
1st Leg Crusaders 49 - 41 Castaways
2nd Leg Castaways 50 - 40 Crusaders
Our season started earlier than usual with the Crusaders taking on the Castaways in the first round of the knockout cup, First up was the home leg of which the Crusaders ran out 49 - 41 winners with Jeremie Loucks topping the points table with 11. It was a meeting that could have gone either way to be honest, especially after heat 13 when the Castaways pairing of Andersen and Narozny posting a 4 - 2 heat advantage whish brought scores level at 39 a piece but Loucks, Lee and Trowbridge all combined to give the Crusaders a 10 - 2 win over the last 2 heats. Another positive to come out of the meeting was the riding of Jeremie Loucks, it looks like this could be his season. Straight after meeting it was the charge of the light brigade as about 700 or so fans travelled down the A12 to Canvey Island for the return fixture that evening. Everybody to do with the club were in high spirits but i needed to bring to guys down to concentrate on the task at hand, Get the result necessary to progress to the next round. The meeting was going the right way for us with the fact that before heat 15 the Castaways had only registred 2 heat advantages so we went into the final heat needing a shared heat that was all. As the tapes rose I closed my eyes only for Jeremie to shout his done it he's bloody done it, Stephen had managed to outgate the fast starting Swede Giarnaset and led him for 2 laps before he was driven high really high by Narozny almost to the point that if Stephen had dropped the bike then the ref would have had a difficult decision on his hands, anyway that left Stephen high and dry with the Castaway pairing to romp home to a 5 - 1 heat victory giving the Castaways a 50 - 40 win and that place in the next round
