Two home wins and Two away losses sees the Lightning slap bang in the middle of the table after 4 matches. All meetings have been close with all the lads giving as good as they get. Erik Davidsson and Martin Shaw have been leading the way as I hoped taking it in turns to top the score chart. Both have been looking after the newcomers to the team and helping them blend into the Lightning family.
Jean-Marc Struthers has been a revelation this season and his 4 match average is matching Martin's. He has become much more consistent and this has in turn boosted his confidence no end. It is great to see him strolling around the pits with a huge smile on his face. Peter Doyle is also riding superbly and his early season form has been fantastic. He is scoring well from reserve both home and away and we will miss his points from there when he moves into the main body of the team. I think he has enough talent to keep scoring well when he moves up though.
Brad Easty and Kalle Mikkelsen have acquitted themselves well in their first UL seasons and will improve as the season progresses and they become more used to the racing over here. The are both riding to their average which is all I can ask of them at this early stage. It will probably be Kalle who will drop to reserve so will keep us strong in that position. Brad is only young and eager to please so gets a bit carried away at times. I can see a really good rider in him and once he calms himself down will start to score heavily.
Young Kenneth Krogh is finding it tough but at just 17 he has a lot to learn and is a huge talent. It was a brave move for him to come straight into the UL and he has handled the pressure very well. He may not be scoring huge points but is never far off the pace and when his gating improves he will start to score well. He is working with our coach Mariusz Wiacek on this and I'm sure it will pay off pretty soon.
So onwards we go with a trip to Tunstall and a home match against Workington before the new averages come out.
